Komi is a republic of Russia. Karjala is the Finnish and Karelia is the Russian for a region now split between the two. Either way, none issues their own stamps and so these are both bogus. They are, however, very attractive and fantastical designs. So, here they are: Hi, Daniel! Do you happen to know when were the two sets issued? The designs on both of them come from a 1970 very popular chess book by Yuriy Averbach which I had back at the time and I would really love to find the stamps too.

hello You are correct that the Bulgaria Scott 580 is the first chess on stamp issued. That is confirmed via the ATA book "What's First".
My favorite chess related stamp of course is the 1972 WCC stamp issued by Iceland for the match between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky.

Here is the photo I was going to add to my post, but had to again figure out how to attach it. I have researched and exhibited the philatelic material on this match since 2006 and wrote a book on the material (published in 2022) for the 50th Anniversary of the match.

Very nice non-traditional maxicard! The traditional maximaphily, in its OBTUSE guidelines for exhibiting, says that this card misses the VISUAL (not abstract) concordance of subject between stamp and postcard. But the non-traditional maximaphily, as I call it, includes the traditional one as an option. In this case, "my SHARP guidelines" say that the concordance of subject is INDIRECT, ABSTRACT, and perfectly fine. The stamp even refers to their famous match. If anybody has a copy of this "non-concordant" maxicard and want to dispose of it, feel free to contact me.
