Inherited a large collection and slowly getting hooked....I don't have the time and I'm fighting temptation to research every single one of them! Found a penny red...got excited...educated myself....not the 77 plate...got disappointed. Still, I have learnt something about stamps! I fear for my marriage if I can't kick the habit....she can have the house, I'm keeping the stamps!

Welcome to TSF (and stamping) stafford The friendliest forum around! Many here have inherited collections and that's what got them going- some looking for wealth, while others get caught up in the hobby itself. I started collecting very young and like many put away the stamps for years as life got in the way, then I inherited my grandmothers collection, then some aunts and uncle's, (who in turn had inherited collections). Ultimately it was my wife's pleading to do "something" with all the boxes or stamps (or she'd take matters into her own hands)! That was 2 years ago now and the hobby has a firm grasp on me now! Enjoy! Cheers Stan Northern California

Hello stafford - welcome!
I solved the marriage problem many years ago...
When my wife asks, I simply tell her that my stamps are just tiny little 'paper shoes' and she gets the message!!

Just my luck they are all common ones! lol In Towcester so not a million miles away.

to TSF! The perfect place to get deeper into all aspects of the hobby...
I fear for my marriage if I can't kick the habit....she can have the house, I'm keeping the stamps! I'll ask for the same deal, but need to make sure the alimony payments will leave enough to keep the collection growing!

A penny red pl 77 is a ghost stamp- they might be out there or might not- if anyone has a plate 77 its either faked or .. it should not really exist- btw, it should have letters in all 4 corners then..
