The first set "German Buildings" was not and still is not very popular with german collectors. But that is true for many issues of the 1960th and 1970th. The stamps were printed in sheets of 100 and in coils.Coil-stamps can be collected in strips of eleven or as singles with a
counting-number on the backside.I think every tenth stamp had a number.Printed on to the gum, they often are washed off from used stamps. Stamps from sheets are often collected in horizontal pairs.Pairs of used stamps command a premium over singles, what is higher than for mint pairs. For this pair, the premium is about 500 %.
A more anecdotal story is to tell about the 50 Pfg.-value: Collectors soon discovered a hidden image in the trees on the left: the "Führer" with a cylinder-hat. But the administration held their nerves and the stamp was printed on.
