Anyone know anything about a Trinidad #57 (five shillings) with a red FREE FEE overprint? The stamp has a squiggle hand cancel. Is it a revenue, or some kind of official? Scott doesn't list it and I don't have a Stanley Gibbons. Help someone, please, who is more expert in this area than I am.

They are Trinidad postage stamps converted to revenue usage. That is why Scott does not list the overprint. Also occurs on the 1sh stamp.
Oddly, for this particular stamp, if I remember correctly, the overprint "FREE FEE" means the document was exempt from normal fees, not that a 1sh or 5sh fee was paid for by the stamp. That was my understanding, but hopefully someone who knows this particular revenue can chime in provide correct /accurate info.

In case anyone was wondering what the overprint looked like, one of my friends posted an examples of his overprinted 1sh (pic borrowed without first obtaining his permission of course -- but then again, what are friends for? )

Thank you; very helpful. I presume the value of my revenue is negligible. Your source mentions no prices.
