Today, Earth Day 2021, marks the 51st anniversary of an event first held in the United States on April 22, 1970 that marked the start of the modern environmental movement here. Now, more than 190 countries celebrate Earth Day. This stamp is one of a set of four based on artwork submitted by youngsters. This Earth Day issue was released on April 20, 1995; the stamp shown, designed by then 12-year old Christy Millard, is the first of the set (Scott 2951) and it titled "Earth Clean-up." If you have stamps issued to commemorate Earth Day celebrations, please post them here.

U.S. "Celebrate the Century" Series Issued in 1998United States, Sc3189a, 33-cent Multi-colored commemorative stamp issued to mark the celebration of the first Earth Day in 1970. This stamp was issued in a mini-sheet of 15 different stamps, each commemorating an historic event in the 1970s. In an even larger context, there was one mini-sheet issued for each decade of the 20th Century.

This is one of several covers that arrived in my mailbox with the new Earth Day spray-on slogan cancel. This cover also happens to have the Star Ribbon stamp issued in 2019 and is Sc. no. 5362 coil stamp, serpentine die cut 10¾ vert. The best part? The stamp is a plate number single, B111. Another cover that will go into my collection.

Sc. 5459 was issued on April 18, 2020 (four days ahead of Earth Day) to mark the 50th anniversary of the occasion. Here's a block of six: And here's an FDC I made in 2022 for the 4-cent Blueberries stamp (Sc. 5652), paired with this one to carry the postage.
