Born and still leaving in my favorite city : Brussels. Collecting stamps when young and lost the link during begin of professional live, children education and so on. During this time receiving stamps from postal administration: British Islands, Faroes, Aland, Gibraltar, Belgium, New Zealand, Isle of Man, UNO, Eire and Canada. I continue this collection but a bit disappointed by the policies of most of the big postal administration. I will stops some standing order to concentrate on older stamps and cover from those countries.
Interested also by wine and beer ... of course.
I'm still working and time is still a gold value ... so not always active in my collection. I like old stamps to find interesting cancels, story, disappeared land/post office, where you have to search.
I was a reader of forum (REC.Collecting.stamps, ...) in the 90's and made many connection that led to friends with visit in England, receiving in Belgium. Contact is very important. I'm quiet impatient to read articles on this forum.

to TSF! Glad you found us. Indeed, we often have deep discussions about the pros and cons of collecting modern stamps and current issuing policies of various countries. Belgium often being the European country that issues the most stamps per year, this is quite topical.

On the other side, many are very beautiful but finally it's more cindirella's since they are not used for postage. And tha last bas thing is that the stamps in, Belgian franks would be out of use, what was not the case till now. Discussion are running at government level, since the value of collection would be in a great danger. I will keep the forum updated with the latest news.

BOB in Orlando, USA When I see the Association you belongs, I will have to be very interesting in my posts on those country. The first thing I can tell is the kindness of people from the Aland Post Office : you are more than a number and an income customer Have been twice in Ireland and always a visit to this fabulous Post Office building and its story during the war against the GB Troops for the independence . Ireland and Belgium have many similarity with stamps series on the birds. cheers

Welcome to the Forum, Math! David Ottawa, Canada Dear Canadians collectors. I started my Canada collection with an old man sending used stamps to me after a professional connection between my father and this people from Quebec. He disappeared and ... life going on ... no time for stamps. The the boy friend (and husband since about 30 years) of the sister of my girl friend in this period (still friend...) was from Quebec (3 rivières where we have done in this time a trip of one month - remembering a incredible trip of two young without money, with a tent, first experience with an "automatic car", with 6 or 8 lanes roads in Montreal- kindly people letting me going from the extreme right lane to the road on the left (try to do that in Belgium and I thing you're dead ... ) coming back to my text, emotions ... He gave me the stamp collection started by his father for him. And I take a subscription to Canada Post. I see him once a year at least (he's leaving in Brussels) but announced him that I stop the collection : Canada Post are wanted I call them for completing a "questionnaire" by phone for continuing to pay my standing order with my Visa as I did since more than 20 years. When I told them that has a big cost to call them and that the hours are not quite the same, they continue to ask me to call and stop my order till I call. So it's stopped and will not start anymore...
