Hi, Does anyone have access or a subscription to the NYTimes archive and could kindly help me out? I'm interested in the Madeira 1929 stamp set, and have found an article about these in the March 17th 1929 edition (Section E, page 2). I believe I can probably buy a 4 week subscription for £2 and then cancel (not sure how easy that would be!) but before I try that I wondered if anyone has access to this article? Michael

That was easier than I thought.
If you can message me through the system here with your email address, I'll send it as a pdf attachment.

OK, michael, glad that you were able to get a copy of the article from Dave ( Philatarium).... nice one, Dave! But now that you have that, Michael, and you have piqued others' curiosity, can you give us an idea of what you may have learned from the article, without violating the sanctity of the archives of the NY Times?

NYT renewed all their newspaper copyrights back to 1928 (so we just missed the cutoff) and many of their Sunday editions back to 1923.
But he is free to paraphrase or summarize the article -- copyright does not block that.

I will update the Portugal Ceres thread with 'fair usage' details. I'm sure the NYTimes will be happy with the publicity that anyone reading this will give them.
