What I collect: Early US and Worldwide Issues
|
Post by BobT on Sept 1, 2021 21:11:52 GMT
Hi everyone. I am a retired minister living in TX. I inherited my great great aunt's early US and Worldwide stamp book nearly 40 years age. She was a librarian. I initially took her little book into a pawnshop to get an idea of the value. The older gent took a look at a few of the small pages and called another man from the back saying, "Come here I want to show you a few stamps you have never seen before." Those turned out to be US #1,2. He offered me $10,000 for the small book of stamps. I said I needed to check with my mother to see if she wants to sell. It was mine but I was flabbergasted. I did send it back to her with a note of the pawnbrokers offer and told her she might want to sell it. I got it back! Since then I have been interested in old stamps and have bought a few albums at garage sales and auctions. Some of the contents may prove somewhat valuable. I often need help in identifying some stamps. I look forward to all the tips and information posted on TSF. This seems a good place to ask questions and get respectful answers--especially for me a real beginner.
Thanks for reading, Bob+

Welcome to the Forum BobT, a great place to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions. It sounds like you had a great philatelic sendoff from your Great Aunt.
