Hello- I need an advice- is there a reliable certificate issuer for GB stamps? I have found a couple of the internet , but have either a negative answer "we do not issue certificates" or ignorance. I collect and plate the first issues and need to certificate 2 rare plates I apparently have found. I am not from GB myself...please send me an advice if you can!

Thanks for your post, onyks . Personally, I would think that the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL) would be the best bet: www.rpsl.org.uk/language/en-US/ContactThe email address for "expertisation" would be what you want, I would think. They are able to examine stamps and issue certificates. Can others suggest alternatives? Alex ( vikingeck ) or Graham ( thegubman ) or daniel or michael or Chris ( cjoprey ) or Michael ( Londonbus1 ) or others more knowledgeable in GB stamps than I am?

If you know the plate then the Royal will confirm with a certificate. The other acceptable GB certificate is Brandon.
I have also great respect for Bill Barrell a major UK dealer in penny reds, but do not know if he does certificates .

I believe this stamp to be plate 53- the colour is as described, the check letters match (i have maybe checked this for an hour or so) - notice the small "rucksack" or lump on the C:

Thank you all for the thumbs up- I contacted David Brandon, but negative answer- I have now contacted the RPSL. I try to upload the image here but I get an error message about login - apparently I have no username or e-post address here, even if I am logged in already. Maybe something is wrong with the service? I have the sample for plate 53, but cant upload it. Plate 53 is a very rare plate, apparently only 60 stamps excist from this plate, I have also a letter with a non-perf. plate 177 to be looked at-

The following UK dealer offers plating CDs and also a plating service.
There is also a specialist UK line engraved forum (Mulready Forum) you could try for which the above dealer is a member.
This is a private forum so you would have to email them your details before you can join.

I can thoroughly recommend Sturminster stamps (Martin Jenkinson) he is a plating specialist and top guy, so the advise from Michael above is very good. Regards Graham
