Hello, I would like to introduce myself to the forum. Like many people my age I collected stamps as a kid, moved onto other things in my 20s, and returned to the hobby some time ago after inheriting a collection. This was in poor condition, had no great rarities, and nobody had paid attention to it for many years, but I am using it as a starting point for writing about its previous owners and the places where they lived (primarily Indonesia, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia). I am adding to it selectively - sometimes to complete sets and issues, sometimes to mark independence and other political milestones in a country's history. As well, because my other interests include the history of printing and the history of the book, I collect stamps which represent these topics. I interpret these themes pretty broadly, and I'm easily sidetracked, but my underlying interest is always the story behind the stamp. This includes, at times, the actual printing of a particular stamp, and I particularly like engraved stamps of the classical era. I also enjoy reading well-researched philatelic literature.

Welcome, mjar ! I recently spent 6 months in Australia (Perth), just before the pandemic. I took the opportunity while there to purchase a lot of Australian stamps from a couple of dealers in Perth. Dan
