I truly look forward to any Scottish Postal History you might share. I recently attended a webinar about the "additional 1/2 penny Scottish Letter Tax". All of the information was new to me and it's opened new areas of interest I never even knew existed.
I've never personally collected Scottish philately but for many years collected woodworking planes from the firm of Alexander Mathieson & Sons, originally from Saracen Lane in Glasgow but with business in Edinburgh as well. Many years ago, I saw early 1880s letters of correspondence between the firms Alexander Mathieson & Sons and the Stanley Rule & Level Company (New Britain Connecticut, USA). I was so fascinated by the content in the letters I didn't think to look for postal markings at the time. I've kicked myself many times as a result, oh well. That ship has sailed.
