Hi there
I would just like to introduce myself. I am based in Scotland near Aberdeen and have been collecting on and off (more off than on for the last 20 years) for approx 46 years since I started aged 7. I am semi retired and intend to fully retire in the not too distant future and I am looking to properly quantify my collection of Cape of Good Hope triangles and penny blacks, especially the capes. My collection is more a life time (so far) of collecting stamps and not as much sorting them so I intend to focus on figuring out what I have and do not have, to enhance my collection. Any collaboration especially on the cape collection, I would like to develop with like minded collectors. My cape collection is quite considerable at least in terms of numbers..quality still has to be established. My knowledge is limited on the subject but I am a keen learner. Any help with cataloging I would be very appreciate of. Dave

Welcome to the Forum dave. You've definitely landed on fertile ground for your interests. We have a wonderful group of members here who regularly discuss the Cape triangles in great depth. One of our admins (Beryllium Guy) has a lot of experience and knowledge in this area, I'm sure you will meet him. I'm just getting into the line engraved issues and have so much to learn. I'm really looking forward to anything you might share from your collection and experience. It's starting to feel like a gathering of the philatelic Clans . We've just welcomed another Scot to the Forum this week (zepp).

Thanks for welcoming me guys. I will in due course upload some scans of my cape collection as it may be of interest to some of you. It is very roughly laid out on stock pages as it has not really had any sorting over the years. That is the plan for retirement.

Yes indeed, welcome to TSF, dave ! It's good to have you with us. Alex ( vikingeck ) had tipped me off about your Cape triangle collection, so I am especially glad to have you join us, as those are a special collecting interest of mine that I have been studying fairly intensively over the past couple of years. I am still learning, to be sure, but there is also much that I can share about what I have already learned. Thanks also to Rob ( REL1948 ) for your kind words in this regard. I look forward to seeing some images from your collection for discussion whenever you are ready! If you have any questions about posting images on TSF, please feel free to PM me. Enjoy your time with us! -Chris ( Beryllium Guy )
