The other thread I started asking about the 2ø red types, got me looking a bit closer at all my copies from this series. Although i didn't find any of the type II's in my stash, I did happen across an interesting, at least to me, variety or plate flaw on other stamps from that set. This closeup is of the 10ø green If you look at the red arrows, you can see a small spur emitting downward from the top bar of the E in the right hand ORE (and somewhat deformed middle bar on some). Out of the 30 or so copies I have of this stamp about half have this spur, or evidence of it. On heavier inked copies it is a bit more rounded and less distinct. The other half of the copies have a very clean cut top bar, such as these, with absolutely no evidence of the spur. Also, several other denominations have a slight spur on some. Also, out of the 20 or so copies of the 10ø rose stamps I have, the majority have this spur-like appendage. What does this all mean? Who knows. I could easily see this particular series making an interesting collection by itself.
