I'm doing some research about Edward VIII for my forthcoming podcast, and just want to check on a something. Does anyone know if any country other than GB (and the Morocco Agencies o'prints) issued a stamp of KEVIII. I know one was prepared for issue in Australia and Canada but as far as I can see no other country actually issued one. Am I correct? Thanks for your help with this.

Interesting question. He was not King long enough for much to happen.

True, as far as I can find out, none were issued anywhere. I just wondered if anyone knew different.

Hello ourdadsstamps,The only stamps officially issued were from Great Britain, the Morocco Agencies and Tangier. A block of 6 stamps from the intended Australian issue famously disappeared as the rest of the dies and printed stock were destroyed. No stamps were officially issued. Canada and the Falklands began designing issues but the process was halted as soon as the abdication was announced. Their designs were reworked for use with KGVI. Rob PS I grabbed this image on eBay. I have an identical copy but couldn't find it this morning....

Just watched your podcast. Very interesting. I do have all the overprinted issues but still missing the GB issue. This was a reminder to actually get them mounted and also to start looking for any missing items.

Thank you all for your kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have been putting out podcasts on the Anchor site since August but have only just converted them for youtube. I plan to do one a week to be released in both formats in time for the weekend.

Good podcast ourdadsstamps, always good to see someone promoting our hobby. It is, perhaps, notable that Newfoundland produced several stamps depicting Prince Edward/The Prince of Wales before joining The Dominion of Canada: Newfoundland SG83 (a very young) Prince Edward 1/2c Olive 1897 SG119 Prince of Wales 3c red-brown 1911 SG167 Prince of Wales 4c mauve 1928 SG212 Prince of Wales 4c bright-violet 1932 Revenue Stamps-Customs Duty Prince of Wales 1c green, 3c brown and 5c violet 1925 Also, Canada SG316 Prince of Wales 5c blue 1932 SG338 Prince of Wales 5c blue 1935

I have released another podcast, called "The printing of King Edward VII stamps", which is now available on YouTube as well as Anchor. In this episode we discover how De La Rue lost a printing contract that they had held for nearly 50 years, the problems facing Harrison & sons when they took over the printing and how the governments own printers at Somerset House got involved in printing stamps. You may or may not know, but there was a set of coronation stamps printed but never issued, for obvious reasons. These are internet images Further to this, here is a link to a website about the King and his abdication. Toward the bottom they show two other British designs, as well as essays from Canada and Australia. stampaday.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/the-abdication-of-king-edward-viii/

Thanks, that's a really interesting article, I used a few of those images in my video channel but wish I'd come across this earlier.
