What I collect: World-Wide Revenue

Post by millersville on Dec 8, 2021 19:15:59 GMT
Thanks for accepting me in the The Stamp Forum! I'm starting to work my way through my Father's collection which fills about 100 book boxes with material. His emphasis was primarily French Colonial Revenues, but I've found revenue stamps and documents from numerous world-wide locations. I've also found caches of topicals like dance stamps💃, duck stamps🦤, Ration Board stamps🥩🧀, and Christmas postcards🎄, and all of this in the first dozen of so boxes. More to come!

Greetings, millersville, and welcome to TSF! Your project of going through your Dad's collection sounds exciting. I love a good treasure hunt, myself! Perhaps an idea for your first thread might be: "Sorting through Dad's Stamps" or something like that, and you could then periodically post images of what you found. I think that would be a lot of fun, and it sounds like it would have broad appeal since there is potential for a wide variety of material. It's just a thought.... If you have any Hedjaz Railway stamps in those French Colonial Revenues, I would love to see them, as those are a special interest for me, inspired by our member Bombadil, who is only occasionally active these days, but once gifted me one of these great stamps. Anyway, enjoy your time with us! -Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

I admit to being slow and focusing upon the loose postal stamps in my Father's collection before digging into his revenue collections and am only now getting around to responding to the many warm welcome's I've received. renden -- I live in Cleveland, Ohio, USA and it looks like many of the goodies I'll be sharing are unusual items I come across. I've just requested access to the TSF Image Host so expect some items soon. stainlessb, biglavalamp, dorincard, hrdoktorx, zipper, dgdecker, rex, Mr. H, and david -- thank you for your welcome messages. guilloutran - My Father originally focused upon French Colonial Revenues, probably because they were affordable and diverse. I now have his albums unpacked and they include about 20 French Revenues and another 20 French colonials. I've also found 7 Argentina. There are over 100 world-wide revenue albums.

... I live in Cleveland, Ohio ... Cleveland has the annual Garfield-Perry stamp show, and, this August, the annual APS show, which moves around the country, will be in Cleveland. I think the APS show is organized philately at its best, and I hope you'll be able to take advantage of it being practically right outside your front door this year. Nice to see you posting again, Chris ( millersville ). Just FYI, but I am planning to be back in Cleveland in August to visit family, so I have incorporated a day at the Great American Stamp Show into the mix. I will respond to your recent PM with my plans. It would be great to see you again!

I am active with Garfield-Perry managing their website, and will be working the registration desk at GASS this August a couple of hours each day.
