Hello
is there also a list of books that are written about stamp collecting and perhaps are still available. I have borrowed a few from the library in the past and they were very interesting.
I am not talking about catalogus but books about a certain aspect of stamp collecting or a general book with tips and tricks about collecting.
A nice example i have found myself is:
The world encyclopedia of stamps & stamp collecting from James Mackay.
Do you know of any other good books?

Paul Schmid's "How to Detect Damaged, Altered, and Repaired Stamps" is a good resource for the U.S. collector. You may want to review the 22 pages of posts in the Your Philatelic Library thread for other examples.

Hello david, I would highly recommend perusing the TSF archives under the heading:" Your Philatelic Library ", currently there are 16 Subjects listed under that heading. By looking at the first post in that thread: "What's in your Library" you'll find 22 pages of posts showcasing a huge slice of philatelic books of every description. I can't think of a faster or more comprehensive way of answering your question. Start there.
