From up close to the mountains of deep south Alberta:
I set aside my small collection of stamps when I left for university and career, and after a break of 40+ years, returned once again to the pleasure of collecting.
Now some 20 years on, and overwhelmed by the diversity and breadth of stamps and outlets out there, I started my best friend on this hobby by gifting him all except Poland (parents' heritage), Canada (current pied a terre), some USA and Machins. His wife continues to curse me for that...
And with less stamps to "handle", I am now able to concentrate on stamp "technology" and its promises on opening up more horizons: scanning tools for extracting and studying watermarks (Canada's early Newfoundland stamps being a prime example) and viewing tools (eg Lighthouse Phonescope) to better identify plate varieties and color variations.
I look forward to learning from this forum and its members about these technologies. As well as new sources of watermark data and plate varieties!
