I bought a lot of these for my Oranges Philately collection and haven't found out much about them. One poster at StampBoards mentioned that he is a collector of Argentina Revenues, that he has none, that they are in his words "the material is very rare," and they might be listed in the Ackerman catalog of Argentina revenues.
The said poster was away at the time and said he would get back with me upon his return. I haven't heard as of this time.
Does anyone have access to this Ackerman revenue catalog? Or better still, personal knowledge of these?
The items shown are but a few. The tags are of similar shape, on different color card stock, and with similar wording. I have examples with printed text for oranges, mandarins as well as apples and pears.
The labels are similar to those shown with minor differences in wording. All are undated.

JeffS, it must be Clive Akerman's (note spelling) 6 volume Revenue Stamps of Argentina, see here. Sorry, I don't have it

Regarding the Akerman catalog, the person from StampBoards responded today and posted a page from the catalogs. Notably absent from that page are indications of how and why these were used. But its a start!

I have found a translation of the "decree" indicated on these stamps which reads:
Each net kilogram of dried fruit of national production, that is packaged, will pay a contribution of "1 cent m/n."
Does anyone have an idea what "m/n" might reference?

I had hoped to make this post my 1000th entry but I couldn't quit arranging and rearranging the stamps to make best sense. I still have an introduction page to write up, but I need more information. It appears that these, in spite of being some of the hobby's ugliest stamps, are also some of its scarcest. I made contact with the underbidder of this lot on a different board who has helped, as well as a couple other contributors. The underbidder is a dedicated Argentina revenue collector and stated that he has nary an example. I doubt that I will score 1 additional item per year.
In the meantime I still have the shipping labels to incorporate into this collection in some meaningful way.
