Hi there. My name is Scott. I am a recently retired lawyer. Like a lot of collectors I did some collecting in school days. My dad had given me two albums that had belonged to my uncle who had died in WWII. These albums were full of 1930s Germany and some USA stamps. But life took over and that was set aside. But recently I found Graham Beck who has the Exploring Stamps channel on YouTube. Then I found Ted Tyszka and his Ted Talks Stamps YouTube channel. He is the person that talked about this forum and pointed me here. I am not sure about my interests. I am flailing around to try to figure that out. Everytime I find a pretty stamp in a grab bag then I want to collect that country. Stamps from Egypt and Spain interest me. What I would like to collect are stamps about law and judges and courts. I don't really see a section about that in the Topical Association but I have started working on that with USA stamps. Then I see this beautiful Spanish stamp from the 1930s showing Columbus' ship the Santa Maria from the Spanish view as it leaves Spain for the New World. Scott 419. (Learning how to use the Scott catalogue is its own challenge so I hope I have this citation correct.) It is part of a commemorative set and I want them all. I think my favorite USA stamp so far is this beautiful Audubon stamp. Scott 1241. The colors are amazing. I wish this was part of a series of his birds but sadly it seems to be a single stamp. I am learning as I go. Figuring out stamp mounts has been my first learning experience and the Scott catalogue is its own secret language. This site will be so useful and I am glad I am here. Please ask any questions or make any suggestions. Thanks everyone.

Welcome! Create maxicards with law subjects! Gandhi, Mandela and other famous lawyers.
Study the copyright of images of postage stamps from around the world. I study that, for fair use and for commercial use.

Thanks for your nice intro, Scott ( swbraden), and welcome to TSF! The Spanish stamp you show is from a set that should be relatively inexpensive and obtainable, at least in my experience, so hopefully you will find it possible to complete your set. Enjoy your time with us, -Chris ( Beryllium Guy) US expatriate currently living in the UK

Welcome swbraden! In case you did not know, an airmail version of the Audubon stamp depicting the Black-throated Magpie (Jay) was issued in 1967 and is Scott no. C71. No, this is not a full series of Audubon bird stamps but at least there is another version to admire.
