I toying with the idea of making legal size stamp pages. I like the idea of less pages with more stuff on each page.
But this leads to some challenges. Like finding decent legal size binders, pages and page protectors.
Has anyone tried to do this?

I have thought about this quite a lot actually. I would love to go "large", but in the end I chose not to. The extra expense is not worth it for me. Going large means I have to buy: * A3 size printer (I'm using a color laser, so this is much more expensive). * "Custom" paper. Odd sizes limits your options. I need to print 1000s of pages, so this adds up.
A solution I thought about was taking my expensive large-size paper, and having a printshop do the printing. This will save me the A3 printer. But as I will re-do pages quite a lot, due to the research-heavy type of albums I create, I would have to swing by the printshop quite often. I don't have anyone nearby, and they charge a "starting fee" every time, so this adds up. Choosing "standard components" is a lot more convenient and cheaper. The extra space I desired I got by utilising the left-side page. So in the end, I got to go large after all - in my own way

I am too far in now to consider. With legal size at least you do not need a new printer and scanner. I would prefer to go to a larger page but more like printed albums. The wide format printer is not expensive but one would likely want a large format (like A3 size) scanner. The page size should be some variation of a standard size. For A3, the width is ok (11.75 inches) and one could trim paper to desired length (from 16 1/2 inches).
I once had looked at Scott paper sizes and it appeared to be a standard industry size paper cut in half.
The crafting hobby uses 12x12.

About 15 years ago I realised for my Tobacco/ Anti smoking themed collection I was collecting documents and advertising covers that did not fit comfortably on an album page . I Moved into the Social or Open class of exhibiting and realised the benefits of A3 pages. I have a Cannon Pixma A3 inkjet printer which I bought when my old standard printer died. It was not too expensive. A local paper supplies company, which offers art materials to schools etc , cuts a couple of hundred sheets of light card (120g) at a time The standard Exhibition exhibit is 5 frames of 16 pages, (80 pages). To accommodate my stuff I would need over a hundred pages but I can fit that in to just 40x A3 and is equivalent to 80 standard album pages, standard height and just less than double the width, which fills the 5 frames Each large sheet has a transparent protective sleeve from an Art supplier, ] and I keep about 15 sheets in an A3 transparent wallet laid flat on a bookshelf

I just started an album with 11 x 14 paper (cream cardstock with a very nice feel to it) which is similarly proportioned in landscape orientation. I opted to use an archival photo album with linen hinged paper. The usable surface is 12.5" x 11" Its a fairly expensive route to go but I scored two of them at a thrift store still all wrapped up unused for 5 bucks each. There are also some very nice leather scrapbook binders available that will hold that size paper. You'd need to source paper of a good weight and archival. Kinkos will cut, print and drill the pages for you. I went this route for an album and am very happy with it, all told I paid about 100 bucks. it has 100+ pages. The topstitched leather cover w/ d ring lay flat binder is much better quality than most stamp binders in my opinion.

My thought with legal size paper is that I would not need new printers. But my paper and binder choices become limited. Trying to find legal size pages that are at least 40 lb and inkjet friendly has been next to impossible. And my binder choices have been quite limited.

I really don't like the aspect ratio of legal paper, even if you could find a decent binder, I don't think that legal pages would make a great album. Clive
