Hello fellow stampers. Can someone identify? Whilst sorting through my Austrian pile I came across the following: Newspaper stamp, Mercury 2h. Green. It is identical in style as the 1908 imperf issues. Can't mistake it for a blue shade. Done a Google search, nothing. Is it postal stationery/wrapper? Unable to scan at this time.
Thanks. Lee.

The green cutout should be from the newspaper wrapper. The paper probably appears slightly "waffled" in texture.

Hello KHJ.
My copy is definately not waffled.
It looks and feels the same as the 20h copies I have.
My 20h copies have a very slight buff colour to the paper.
Regards.Lee.

I don't collect postal stationery. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than one paper variety. That's true of even some of the normal definitives of that era. I'll leave the issue of paper to someone who knows or collects Austrian newspaper stamps or postal stationery.
