I am a beginner collector for 5 years. I didn't know anything about stamps but I had a stock book with stamps from French, Portuguese colonies and South and Central American countries. (1856-1900). Without catalogues, identification on the internet was difficult but I was able to find out various interesting information about the colonies and the countries where they were used, about their forgery and their history. I was already infected with the philately "virus". My first catalogue was Michel specialized for Germany, which determined my orientation towards collecting stamps from this country. I collect all periods and countries where German stamps were used. You will tell me that it is impossible, but I am not a fanatic collector (who searches a lifetime for a stamp that is missing from his series) and I am content with the stamps that my budget allows me. I hope to learn a lot of information from the site and in turn help with what I have learned so far.

Welcome to the Forum!
Have fun with putting your German collection together. There will always be a few elusive ones out there. Or they may been to expensive.
Should your interest turn to Canada, let me know. I can help out.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome messages. I try to know the procedures and of course read the discussions. Are there any groups set up for German stamps?

... Are there any groups set up for German stamps? Go to the Home screen and scroll down to the Europe category. There you will find boards for Germany, the German Democratic Republic, and German States.
