Hi folks, And a lovely sunny, spring day it is here in North Carolina. Later on we are expecting rain so I'll be able to pore over postage stamps in the house without feeling guilty. I was introduced to stamp collecting as a schoolboy back in England when you could send off to dealers for like 500 assorted stamps (on paper) provided you looked at a booklet of "on approval" stamps, a practice that continues to this day (Listen to Pete West's podcast). Now that I'm retired, I would like to take up stamp collecting again as a relaxing hobby. Taking the advice to specialize, I'll probably concentrate on GB and colonies - you can imagine my surprise to find out that not only is Stanley Gibbons still highly respected but they are still in business! The last time I studied their catalogs was over 50 years ago. Cheers!
