Hi everyone! My name is Carmen and I am a woman who hoards those "small bits of paper covered on the back with a glutinous wash" to paraphrase Sir Rowland Hill. I returned to stamp collecting in my Richer 40s I had started, like many, in my teenage years. My areas of interest are: Canada, cats (I currently have 2 of 'em here at home who run our (my husband just retired from the Army last year) lives), soccer (obsessed since I discovered the game at the age of 8 when I moved to England for 4 years... GO LIVERPOOL! I'm still an obsessed soccer player as well), Royalty (I'm a Good Canadian Monarchist), Religion (I work for a church for a living), sailing vessels (Titanic-related is a particular favourite because it's a tragic story of Human Hubris which fascinates me! I was also privileged to travel on the QE2 twice as a youngster), and stamps on stamps. That having been said, I will gladly accept whatever stamps make their way into my hot little mitts... people who ask me "do you still collect stamps" usually get my best "are you actually ASKING me that?!" look, LOL! PS. Pro Tip of the Day: don't keep your hobby a secret... be loud and proud - you all have *no idea* how many THOUSANDS of stamps I have gotten given to me because I tell EVERYBODY I'm a collector! Beyond that, I'm known for my rather zany sense of humour and for not having a Snooty Stamp Collecting Bone in my body... I think collecting stamps is a SUPERB hobby that can be pursued by everyone from 5 to 105, no matter your interests or financial situation... what you want your collection to be is up to YOU! There ya go... Carmen in 6 paragraphs. See you all around the boards! PS... I have no idea why my picture is so BIG! Not intended, I assure you!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

If so I'd be interested in a quote to include fire damage. Thanks, Daniel

Carmen, Welcome to the Forum. Great to see another Canadian member. David Ottawa Hey David... nice to be here... I'm a Kingston resident now, but Ottawa's my hometown. Looking forward to getting back there in a bit for a couple of reasons: - my first visit to LL Bean, finally - a return to my favourite restaurant, Chances 'R. THOSE RIBS, MAN! My Ottawa heart got broken years ago when Ian Kimmerly retired out West and closed his stamp store down. I LOVED spending time there. My husband used to jokingly says "Oh, Carmen's gone to Temple to Worship!" Does Ottawa even have any stamp stores at all at this point?

There one store that I know of in Ottawa. Chris Green on 2nd Ave in the Glebe. chrisgreen.ca/. I think he had been with Ian Kimmerly. I have not been in the shop since well before Covid. Though I have purchased online. Soon I will get into the shop. David
