I've been adding all the stamps of the DDR to a spreadsheet and have pretty much given up on Scott's & just using Michel. Scott's mustn't like the DDR, as there are a lot of stamps out of chronological sequence! LOTS! Their numbering scheme leaves a lot to be desired. I now like having everything list in the main listing. Although it would be nice mixing in the Officials too. It would be nice if Unitrade would give up on the so-called B-0-B sections!

As long as dealers sell by Scott numbers, the US region will always mostly use Scott. The change would probably do irreparable damage to Scott business. Also, it would impact all their album products.
I do like Michel's products for layouts and listing completeness.
As someone penned, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
There are so many battles one can do.

Since it is just me, I can live with other people using Scott's, and I can live with using Michel... most of the time!

The thing I don't like with Michel, that Scott's excels at, is the numbering of se-tenant stamps. Michel is a crap-storm of letter/number combinations of almost every permutation you can find! I've altered the numbers a bit to reflect that with Michel numbers.
For instance, they list 901-904, add an un-numbered block of 4, then 18 combinations. 18 for one block of 4!! They collect like that over there? That is senseless to me! I list the block of 4 as 904a! KISS!
Like they say, no single catalogue will ever please everybody!

And what I find curious, the horizontal pair 903/904 has a value of 6.5 Euros and 904/903 is 9 Euros What is the logic?

When it comes to published stamp catalogues, logic is rarely a foundational basis for how items are listed.

They were originally $189 with a Best Offer option so I offered $159. They countered $169, splitting the difference.

Bought a U.S. Specialized 2021 to fill in for the 1A that's missing from the 11 catalogue set I just bought. (My old Specialized is from 2011.) Liked the cover on this one better than the newer ones. Got it from the same guy. Didn't make an offer this time, just used Buy It Now because 2 people were watching so I felt I had to snatch it immediately.

Hi rednaxelaI am happy when German stamp collectors appear on TSF. Your explanation is logical, thank you. George

Hi rednaxela I am happy when German stamp collectors appear on TSF. Your explanation is logical, thank you. George This is not only a point that is important for collectors of German stamps or GDR stamps. Because I also collect Soviet stamps, I have become particularly aware of these aspects. And on the part of the Soviet Union, hundreds of se-tenant stamps were issued... Sometimes even the Michel catalogue lists only one variant of these se-tenants and not their "mirror image". If you like that kind of thing, collect it - at least I do (not least for my album texts on albumeasy...).

I just looked how Scott catalogues the official stamps of the GDR. It's a shame... If you are interested: On Clive's Stampweb (albumeasy) I have compiled all the GDR official stamps in all their variants in an album text.

rednaxelaI have always liked 'se-tenant', tete-beche or selvedge stamps. I am not a specialized collector in this field, but if I have the opportunity I buy these types of combinations.
