Another has passed on...
I just received word today that Jack Portwood (coastwatcher) passed away on May 4th from a massive heart attack. He was heart-broken when he heard the news that his granddaughter had irreparable brain damage after contracting COVID-19. Even though he was at the hospital when it happened, he was gone by the time they brought him in to the ER. Rhubarb, his soulmate, passed away 9 days later. Those two were inseparable, and are now side by side.
His banter was something else... stamps, guns, health, pets and family. It never ended! He will be sorely missed.
My condolences go to his wife, children and extended family.
Peter

brightonpete , just a heads-up that on another forum here on proboards, Jack's daughter Emily posted that it was June 4 and not May 4 when he passed away. I felt this information should be corrected given the source is his daughter. I have corresponded with Jack several times on both forums and I am sorry to hear of his death.

brightonpete , just a heads-up that on our sister forum here on proboards, Jack's daughter Emily posted that it was June 4 and not May 4 when he passed away. I felt this information should be corrected given the source is his daughter. I have corresponded with Jack several times on both forums and I am sorry to hear of his death. Emily sent me a message here on TSF and it she said it was May 4, which fits with all the sad COVID news of his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
Perhaps she wrote one in error? I'm not sure if she is following up on here any more.

brightonpete, I guess I don’t know then why the information is different somewhere else. I am sorry that I corrected you. Apparently the other information is incorrect.
