Update:
I am in communication with at least one person from these 11 countries except 3: Latvia, Croatia, and Luxembourg.
I really have hard time getting in touch with people from these 3 countries. There is not really any FB group related to them where I can post.

Dear (maxicards/covers) collectors,
I have a strange question to ask. Did any of you ever purchase / evaluate a series of maxicards that are based on the same postcards, but with different stamps? Say, there is only one painting ever existing for a given historical figure but several stamps were designed by his native countries to commemorate him. Does using the exact same postcards printed by the same print shop on the same type of paper with the same equipment calibration increase the value of the entire series? Or does the postcard's quality matter little?
I just learned that it takes about 2 months for a letter mail sent from Ukraine to reach the rest of the world, and vice versa. This means that my package sent to my new Ukrainian friend will probably not make it by the deadline I set, that's the 24th of August, Ukraine's national day. Here are 2 solutions I can think of right now:
(1) I mail my friend by Purolator a batch of my blue/yellow postcards for him to create the maxicards.
(2) I authorise my friend to print out certain copies of my blue/yellow postcards from a local print shop. He then fabricates the maxicards.
The problem with #1 is that it costs $250 to ship via Purolator (currently the only carrier who hasn't suspended delivery from Canada to Ukraine) right now. I don't mind paying it, so long as the items properly arrive on time. The advantage is that the Ukraine maxicards will be based on the same postcards as in any other country's maxicard in the series, which I suppose is more worth collecting as a series.
The problem with #2 is that quality control will be an issue as I can't monitor the printing process. It will be impossible for the postcards to be the same, which I suppose decrease the worth of the entire series. But the advantage is that this option is more flexible and much cheaper than #1.
So the question I have to ask is: How much the worth of the entire series will increase if the postcards are all the same (and inscribed and signed by me, the artist)?

Someone proposed another potential solution: (3) sending my postcards to a European country thence forward to Ukraine.
Which European country's postal service provides fast delivery to Ukraine right now?

Ask on Facebook Mihnea Raducu (Romania), postcrossing ambassador for Romania, and owner of a professional printshop business. He printed hundreds of different postcards that are postcrossers' favorites. postcardsmarket.com/

Update: (1) I finally found one participant in Croatia after posting the same message to many FB groups! This means I am in communication with at least one person from all the participating countries, even though to this date, participation of Latvia, Poland, Austria, Lithuania and Spain is still left to be confirmed. (2) My original hand-crafted Ukraine cover is in progress. The design is finished and quick study done. Left to do: more practice and testing on various medium, then the work can be executed. I have until mid-August to finish this piece. Spoiler: the visual of this cover is inspired by the famous 1967 anti-Vietnam war photography by Marc Riboud, with an OCD-driven composition (or Wes-Anderson-inspired composition, if you prefer cinema over medicine). (3) I was mistaken -- Purolator has suspended service to Ukraine since this April; my cards printed in Canada cannot get to Ukraine on time. Therefore I am collaborating with a Lviv-based studio to produce the Ukrainian variety of my cards. The proof looks promising. The only issue I have is with the surface that looks coated and a bit glossy. I will ask someone to go the studio to test if oil-based ink can dry quickly on it. I already knew that water-based ink doesn't dry at all on this kind of surface:

You either: - have someone spray generously the glossy postcards with MATTE FINISH spray, or - try to use inkpad with PIGMENT-BASED ink, like from StazOn. That sticks on the glossiest of the glossy.

dorincardWell, it's not really up to me to choose what ink pad Ukraine post office uses. So I guess the first option is the way to go. But let me see if the proof from this studio works first. There is second studio with whom I can work with. If none works, then matte spray is the way to go!

Of course. Although a friend, maybe Holin, mailed the StazOn inkpad to the postmaster, who used it and then returned it!
Or, the print studio can print directly in matte finish?

The Lviv studio might have already used matte paper to print my postcard. It may be the inks that's making the surface glossy. Take a look at these 3 prints from 3 different studios: The one at the bottom is from the Toronto-based studio Pikto, printed on Mohawk Superfine Matte Card Stock 325gsm. The paper is uncoated on both sides and the surface absolutely matte finish. This is my ideal postcard that I sent to the rest of the world. The left one is from Fujifilm, printed on coated paper on both sides. The surface is the most glossy of all 3. The right one is from Montreal-based Rubics. I asked them to use matte paper. The back side is uncoated with matte finish, but the front side has 2 types of finishes which I can feel if I place my finger on it: the empty space is the same finish as the back side, whereas the part covered with inks is a bit glossy. You can see a bit of sheen on the surface of the image. I was already told that the two Ukrainian studios didn't carry the Mohawk card stock.

Some of my friends around the world asked how they could help, so I recently ordered more sunflower / yellow flower stamps to invite people from other countries to participate. Here is the list of added countries: - Australia (1) - Belgium (1) - Great Britain (1) - Hungary - Iceland - Indonesia (1) - Netherlands (1) - Romania - Sweden - Thailand (1) - Vietnam (1) - USA (1) I would like to ask if any forum member here is welling to help me get a postmark of the 24th of August from these countries. Given the impressive efficiency of postal service lately (it took barely 4-5 days for my letters sent in Canada to reach Germany and France!), I have high hope my orders will arrive promptly.

My project is going well on social media Spain and Latvia's participation is finally confirmed! This makes the initial list of 11 countries who have issued Ukraine support stamps this year complete. For most of countries, I could't find 2 people to help me, so I can only hope that nothing unforeseen happens to the only person whose help I so appreciate. I added in a third round other countries to my project. Here are the newest addition: - Argentina - Cambodia - Chile - Denmark - Egypt - Ghana (1) - Mexico - Norway - South Korea (1) Again, if you know anyone who may be willing to help me get the desired postmark on the 24th of August, please let me know.

Hello everyone, I initiate a fundraiser to help covering the cost of my Ukraine project. Any leftover will be donated to Canada-Ukraine Foundation. Regardless of the amount raised, the perks are guaranteed to be delivered because they are mostly ready now. To the contributors, I am offering - postcards; - signed fine art prints of different sizes; - the Canadian variety of Ukraine support maxicards; - the second printing of my photo book, signed with personalised dedication (the publication of this book was funded by Canada Council for the Arts); - unique hand-drawn cover (one available). (the last two are for philatelists mostly) I do make larger prints even though I stop at 8x10 for this campaign. Please contact me if you should like a larger print; the shipping may be tricky but we can sort this out in private. I feel sorry for international contributors, yet the shipping cost is really out of my control. (Canada Post charges the highest shipping rate in the world insofar as I know.) ******************** I don't expect many donations nor reaching my goal ($500). At first I even questioned if it's worth the trouble to set up an online fundraiser as I expect the contributions would come from people who knew me already. But my friend who suggested trying crowdfunding to ease my financial burden said that I should give total strangers a chance. Please feel free to share this and help spread the words. This cover will be my first that involves colour paints (watercolour), though it's not my first cover in colour. P.S. Admin Please let me know if this post is inadequate here.

I just put the last few postcards into the post box. I have little concern for those destined for Japan, but those for Norway and Hungary may not arrive on time unless miracle happens. The Japanese ones, if arrived on time, may be decorated with this beautiful sunflower cancel: Another Japanese participant is helping me get this pictorial cancel: On Postcrossing forum, I was very surprised and touched to receive support from a Russian living in Budapest, and a Chinese who is unafraid of voicing his support for Ukraine (I didn't know it was allowed in China!). Even though they may not be able to join this time (unless I send express mails), their support means a lot to me and, I am sure, to people of Ukraine. I will keep the sunflower / yellow flower stamps that I don't use this time. But I sincerely hope that they will not come handy next year (i.e. that the war ends this year). So, my quest for help ends here. In the future I will give updates regarding how the project evolves. Thanks be given to all who have read me all this time.

We should collaborate on more international projects, besides war and peace. Like "create a maxicard that shows something interesting from your country, or from your mind".

Ukraine Post just announced yesterday that a new stamp dedicated to Independence Day will be issued on the 24th of August. It shocked everyone including me. I wrote to them earlier to ask about getting the independence cancellation, they told me they had no plan of issuing a new stamp on the 24th! I believe they changed mind at the last minute (I hope it's not because of my inquire), because this year marks the 31th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, which is not a particularly memorable number. This makes my contact (a philatelist) in Kyiv worrying that he may not success in producing the cards I want. Because there will be thousands of people lining up and he can't wait all day. We were almost sure to get this special independence cancellation available in Kyiv on the 24th:

I finally received my Spanish Ukraine support stamp! Though it’s sent from United States, not Spain Here is the complete set of my Ukraine support cards made from special stamps issued this year by 11 countries showing solidarity with Ukraine. I didn’t have the chance to photograph my other cards showing sunflower / yellow flower stamps issued by other countries. I will take a picture once they are returned to me. Currently, I have +20 participating countries!

My cover for this project is almost completed, only details in the graphite and colour pencil drawing remain to be fine-tuned. Here is a photo of it (never mind the sheen from the pencil). Any thought / criticism? I now name this piece Peace to Us.

Ukraine Post just announced this week that a new stamp dedicated to Independence Day will be issued on the 24th of August. It shocked everyone including me. I wrote to them earlier to ask about getting the independence cancellation, they told me they had no plan of issuing a new stamp on the 24th (they didn't really answer my question 😛)! I believe they changed mind at the last minute (I hope it's not because of my inquiry), because this year marks the 31th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, which is not a particularly memorable number, and there was already an independence stamp issued last year. When I set the project execution date to be Ukraine’s national day, I immediate faced the problem that this year, Ukraine Post didn’t plan a new stamp issue to celebrate the country’s independence. So I had to use older issues and there were 5 of them. But it would be nice, I thought, to have something issued in 2022, as the war started this year. The warship stamps were the first new issues since the commencement of the war, and is by now the most popular Ukrainian stamps, so even though it’s a bit pro-military in design (which some people can find offensive) and the colours are off, they were chosen to represent Ukraine. But the new independence stamp changes everything I had previously planned for the Ukrainian varieties. After much discussion with my helpers in Ukraine, I have come to decided this distribution totalising in 26 cards: There will be 4 Ukraine sets consisting of 6 cards, plus 2 singles using the 2022 stamp. Half of the cards will be cancelled in Kyiv, another half in Lviv, to spread the risk of something terrible happening to one of the cities. (If something happens to both of them, I will take it as an inevitable outcome of war, and pray that the potential collectors will understand this difficult situation.) 2 of these Ukrainian subsets are reserved for the complete sets, the other 2 subsets will be on sale as minisets. The 2022 varieties will be the only ones being sold individually as singles.

Here are some of the international responses to our cause. From Taiwan (with the help of Harry): To get the postmarks, my helper went to a post office named 永安, which has a beautiful meaning that is ‘forever safe’ (this is what we wish for people of Ukraine). From Finland (with the help of Maarit Madetoja): From Japan (with the help of Mina and Ai Suzuki): From Moldova (with the help of Ala Nicoreanu): From Spain (with the help of Juan Antonio Casas): From Estonia (with the help of Simone D. Casadei Bernardi): From USA (with the help of dorincard ): From Germany (with the help of Jens): Participation of Canada, France, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, UK has been confirmed too. I will upload more pictures once the cards are in my hands. Thanks be given to everyone for making this project a success! P.S. I am still looking for a suitable organisation to look after the sale of these cards. If you know someone who may be interested, please put us into contact. Thanks in advance!

I will keep posting updates on various forums and on this project's Facebook event page, but it seems that not everyone has access to these forum posts or like Facebook, so I made a dedicated webpage and hosted it on my personal website, which will serve as the official documentation everyone can refer to for this project. Here is the QR code linking to this webpage if anyone needs to share it in a modern way:

First week's results are from Canada, Japan, Germany, UK, and the Netherlands: Canada, Japan and Poland: France: Taiwan, France, Finland and USA: Sweden and Latvia: I was a bit worried for my hand-drawn cover but the cancel turned out to be perfectly clear! Do you think I should get the special FDC cancellation on this cover too? Or just the cancel of Myrnam ('Peace to Us'), AB, suffices?

I am in the process of redesiging a new website for my Ukraine project. But seeing that advertising writing is not my thing, I asked AI to come up with a few punchy slogan(s). Here they are:
- Global Solidarity for Ukraine: Support Through Stamp Art - Stamp out war, support Ukraine! - Show your support for Ukraine with stamps and solidarity! - Collect stamps, make a difference for Ukraine!
Which one do you prefer?
