After using inexpensive paper cutters for years to cut stamp mounts, last week I ordered a Leuchtturm 180 stamp mount cutter. Here's a generic image from the Internet of what it looks like: Overall, it's a pretty good design, but there are a few things I would ilke to change about it. 1. I wish the numbers and tick marks on the ruler were colored white, to make them easier to see. 2. I wish the clear plastic slider to the right could be locked in place, so you could use the cutter to cut multiple mounts of the same size without having to worry that the slider moving by accident. 3. It would be nice if the slider wrapped around the edge so you can better line it up with the notches on the rules As much as I like using a paper cutter, most paper cutters that have a swing-out rules, have some kind of gap in the ruler between where the rules on the main cutter ends and the ruler on the extension starts. The paper cutter was a cheap imperfect solution that worked well enough. We'll see how well this works for me.

You can try using a grease pencil to colour in the numbers. At least that would solve that nit.
I like my Fiskars. It can do 260 mm's or so in length, so strips and blocks are easily cut perfectly to size. I also like its easily replaceable blade.

It boggles my mind that no one carries a grease pencils any more. Staples has one in stock, in black. And Michaels doesn't have any. And people wonder Amazon has such a big market share.

I recently had looked into buying a Leuchtturm. So as not to hi-jack your thread, I've created my own regarding my Showgard.

The grease pencil was a complete bust.
The numbers and the tic marks are raised, not embedded in the plastic. When I run the grease pencil across it, the color gets on the tic marks and in-between them. Without some kind of color in these tic marks and numbers, they're really hard to read. I might try to lightly go over it with a shite Sharpie pen and see if that does anything.
EDIT: Sharpie didn't work either.

Oh great. I used Goo-Gone to get rid of the grease pencil off the cutter. Looks like some of it transferred to the ruler. Time to print another one out and swap them.

Nothing beats my Fiskars! There is a 210mm mount alongside it. Perfect cutter with an easily replaceable blade.
I don't work for the company, but wished I did! I'd move the blade insert to the top of the cutter. As it is, it's at the bottom, which leads me to pulling it out at times. But that's the only niggle.

Peter I was looking at that model, but it didn't have metric measurements on it.

I cut the mounts with the stamps in the mount.
That's the other niggle - no metric scale! I missed that first time around.

That's the other niggle - no metric scale! I missed that first time around. I used to do that all the time. Then, one day I was a se-tenant strip I paid $20 for at the local stamp store, and somehow the strip shifted and I sliced through a stamp. So, I gave up on that idea. I'm sure it was my own stupidity. But now I'm gun shy about doing that.
