The New Atlantic Seaport Newark, New JerseyAn advertisement for the September 1908 edition of Van Norden Magazine published in Business Philosopher indicates that the issue contains the article ""The New Atlantic Seaport," which tells how a city is starting out to attract transatlantic trade to itself." From that I'd date this poster stamp circa 1908.

MR. ZIP
Poor Mr. Zip, always on the outside, in the margins. Poor Mr. Zip so often on the borders of fame but never quite getting there. Poor Mr. Zip, not always seen and yet so kind and busy. Poor Mr.Zip ? Not any more Here he is in his own right, not shoved away on the edges of stardom but going solo and getting along. I give you the many faces of Mr. Zip !!

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) established its National Home for Children near Eaton Rapids, Michigan in 1925. The first VFW National Home charity label was issued in 1936. The second issuance is shown below (Mosbaugh 960A.02).

I visited the Zymoglyphic Museum near my home in SE Portland today. This is one man's labor of love, an idiosyncratic set of exhibits of art and rogue taxidermy. Quite worth seeing if you are in Portland on one of the few days that it is open. Anyway, the curator has also produced a few fantasy local stamps, "valid for carriage from the museum to a local USPS receptacle." Here are those that were on display. Not really a great photo. But there are better ones on the museum web site. There was also this fun little bit of envelope art. (I don't think you can call it "mail art" as it didn't actually ever go through the mail.) (More general museum photos can be found here - photos.app.goo.gl/Ou8okuVmv4LJkJmG3)

I had a look at that website and was fascinated by the carrier snails - I never knew anything about them before. Atlas Obscura, one of my favourite sites, has visited this museum and they did a photo article specifically on the carrier snails. Ryan

I recently wrote about these "Camel Express" labels in the Forum Newsletter (V2.1). Here is an example of the label's use on cover.

Hi BG,
Yes, I do have a fondness for Mr.Zip but I don't believe that anything in a sheet selvedge should be classed as a Cinderella. So a 'no' on that one. There are those who save Gutter inscriptions or artwork in their Cinderellas, I have a few that found their way in.
A definite 'Yes' to the wine label stamp. Very collectable so try to soak it off carefully. A nice one, never seen it before.
A whole host of Poster Stamps and Advertising labels were produced to promote the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915, held in San Francisco. Below are just a few advertising the Union Pacific Railroad and depicting the Old Faithful Inn in the Yellowstone National Park.

In the past month or so, I have received a number of solicitations for donations from the "Wounded Warrior Project" here in the U.S. In those packets that they send, they typically enclose a small gift of some sort, most recently a small sheet with set of self-adhesive labels designed for use on correspondence. So, once again, my question to all those who know more about this area of collecting than I do ( Londonbus1, tomiseksj, @falshung, firstfrog2013, Anping, etc.), are these Cinderellas? Are they collectible as such, or are they just stickers? I look forward to your comments.

BG While they are stickers the designs do change routinely so the year of issue can be determined. They rate right up there with Xmas seals or wildlife seals. Cinderella or ephemera close call either way.Quite sure someone is already collecting them.

Many thanks for the quick responses, Steve ( tomiseksj) and Frog ( firstfrog2013)! That is just what I wanted to know. I had also thought that they seemed similar in purpose to Christmas or Easter seals, but still had my doubts. We get so much of this sort of stuff in the mail these days, that these solicitations often end up going into the trash unopened. I will hang on to these for the time being, then, and I will also keep my eyes open for all mailings from charities and check them before just discarding them. Thanks, guys!

I can best answer this by saying that as a Charity Seal collector I would not buy this type of item. However, if I received these in the mail like BG did or I was given some, I would most likely put them in my collection. Does that sound OK ?

However, if I received these in the mail like BG did or I was given some, I would most likely put them in my collection. Does that sound OK ? It certainly sounds OK to me, LB1! As I see it, as collectors, it is always up to the individual to decide for him or herself what to collect or not collect. Frankly, I don't blame you for not seeking out items like these or wanting to spend money on them. I don't think I would spend any money on them, either, but as you pointed out, since they came to me at no cost, then why not keep them? I asked the question in the first place just to get an idea if these were worth saving as Cinderellas or not, the same way I asked about the wine labels a couple of months back. Admittedly, I like the design of the wine labels much more than these Wounded Warrior stickers, but for the time being, I will hang on to all of them. Once I accumulate enough of these items, don't be too surprised if you see some of them in a giveaway!

I would consider them more collectible if they were used on covers posted to you or friends. You could apply them as a cachet, possibly with additional artwork; similar to The Art Cover Exchange (ACE covers).

Although I would not want to dismiss the collection of these Wounded Warrior Project labels by others, I think their message would be more powerful if they were actually used as intended. If pushed, I would place these in a charity label category (avoiding confusion perhaps with the term seal, which conjures up a particular but different image in my mind).
Although I would not collect these myself, I could see them partly forming an interesting social history collection, if used on cover.

These stamps were used on the correspondence promoting the New England Tour that took place May 28, 1930. the place was Augusta, Maine on the Kennebec River. as you see I have two of these so one must go.They were also printed in red but I only have blue. Anyone desiring one please PM me.I'll accumulate names and pick a winner Saturday A.M. Now both spoken for.I bought these expressly to give away and knew they would be loved by new owners.
