rod222 The copyright A.R.M. initials are of the subject Alvin R. Meissner. The COLLECTOR text is adjacent to a signature line where I suspect the book owner would sign or print his name.

danielThere is a sheet of the We Remember AmVet labels for sale on eBay that is different from the one you show above, but same date. Do you, or others, know how many different sheets were issued? Thanks. Don

The bookplate showing a collector examining a stamp was done by John Coulthard and the plate given away by stamp dealer Elmer Long. The Long plate includes his address. A good advertising technique as some heirs of deceased collectors probably contacted him to sell collections.

Don, stamphinger,I did find a similar sheet with different patches but that was for 56-57, so, the following year. Otherwise, it looks like they produced stamps annually although with different themes. Daniel

I found this cover in the listings of a Canadian cover dealer. Had not seen it before. I should post it in my Texas Cinderella thread, but I shall wait until I get in mounted and annotated for that.
Crazy Water as a name began according to legend, when a woman of reduced mental abilities (crazy) was seen drinking mineral water from a particular well, and over time, began to act more normal. In the 1910-1920 era, Mineral Wells was a destination hotspot for those seeking relief through mineral water. Plus it was an interesting getaway spot for tourists in general. The well and bottling facility is still active today.
DRINK CRAZY WATER. THE BEST WATER ON EARTH.

Showers Furniture 1868, Bloomington, Indiana This metallic seal relates to the company founded by Charles C. Showers in 1850s but was sold to his son William and James, in 1868. The Showers Brothers Furniture Factory would become the largest furniture factory in the world and by the 1920s employed 10% of the nations furniture workforce. The company was very progressive and even started its own bank for their employees. The business closed in 1955.

An update on this cinderella. I found that the Sun Carnival began in 1935 in support of an El Paso High School football game. The following year 1936, it continued, but in conjunction with the annual college level Sun Bowl football game held in El Paso. It continues in 2024, 89th year, with additional activities. I have more than I need of this item. If someone would like a block of four, send me your mailing address via Messages and I'll send you one, postpaid, while supplies last. StampHinger

Eugene Oregon The City Of Radiation In this sense the word radiation derives from the verb 'radiate' meaning 'diverge or spread from or as if from a central point'. Edgar B. Piper, editor of the Oregonian, commented on the completion of the Oregon Electric Railway line in October 1912, which operated between Eugene and Portland, "Today [Eugene] is marked on the map of Oregon as a point of radiation of traffic that fixes its status...The advent of the Oregon Electric Railway marks...Eugene's second birth". The Southern Pacific and Oregon Eastern railroads also ran through Eugene. Eugene also had a marching band called The Radiators. The Eugene Commercial Club issued a book entitled 'City of Radiation, Eugene, Oregon' in 1913 and the stamp must date date to that year. Main source Lane County History Museum

Paint Your House with Dutch Boy White Lead Paint - A Good Service Founded in 1907 as part of the National Lead Company of New York. It was a very popular brand until lead paint was banned in 1978 in the U.S. due to the poisonous nature of lead. Although the dangers of lead paint were forewarned by Benjamin Franklin in a letter in 1786. In Germany in 1886 women and children were prohibited from working in factories manufacturing lead paint. The League of Nations tried to ban lead paint from 1921. The brand Dutch Boy Paint still exists today (without the lead).

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

When I started in the paint business in the mid 1970’s the cans of Benjamin Moore Impervo enamel carried the message ‘Made without lead or mercury’ on the label. This was because this high gloss paint was often used on children’s cribs and toys and little ones liked to chew on such things. Those were different times. I sold lead flashing and asbestos sheets by the foot all handled with bare hands and no mask.
