If they are going to deface these new bar-coded stamps, would it not be better the X over the bar code instead?

Maybe if it has been scrawled out by hand it missed being correctly machined (cancelled). My impression with the bar codes was that each stamp has a different one so that it can be registered automatically & if re-used would be rejected on the second "pass". I wonder how long it will be before cancellations by inking will be phased out as not necessary because the bar code has been read & recorded. Yeepee lots of mint looking stamps!!!!!!! Not.

If someone had created a large poster of the same image and then applied the same marking, I wonder if some would think it was disrespectful.
