When living in Ireland I had a standing order with An Post for new stamp issues. In one of their shipments I received this label:
I think such labels were printed to replace the earlier postage due stamps. As the paper was gummed, they could be affixed like stamps. Has anybody seen such a label before and maybe even on a letter? The scan looks quite faint, but this is how the label really looks. The date is 20-Sep-1993.

No doubt about that ! But a meter label inscribed "POSTAGE DUE" is not a common one. (The "DUE" is placed below the "050" and is rather faint.) But the inscriptions upwards down on the left is "POSTAS" and on the left "LEHIOC", what is Gaelic for postage due.

Thanks for your post, Werner ( salentin). It’s an interesting item, but I have never seen one before, so let’s tag Terri ( philatelia) to see if she can tell us anything more about it.

salentin Looks like meter postage from a Pitney Bowes machine. It appears that this was indeed a postage due item. LE HIOC, down the right hand side, means to be paid, better copies show the word DUE at the bottom. I think that this was a short-lived idea, probably because they didn't look like postage dues.

You have a sweet little item there! I’ve read about them, but yours is the first I’ve ever seen. If it is still on cover - WOW! Here is the section about these from Hamilton-Bowen’s 2020 Hibernian. hmmmm - with a September 1993 date, you are close to first days of usage!
