Hi All, I've searched but cannot seem to find an album that can hold vario pages, but that is not a 3-ring binder. Below is what i'm looking for. I look forward to any suggestions on how i can get the vario page versatility, but also the hardcover bound feel. Thanks in advance! An example of the binding that gives the album the feel I'm looking for. Here's a mock-up of a Vario-page book that allows pages to be removed/added, but is bound such that it feels like a hardcover. Is there such a thing like this?

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

It is possible a vintage springback style album may do the job for you. I guess they are still available as new as well. The key is to find one the right size for the Vario sheets.

I have a springback binder and one can put anything in it. However, because Vario pages are thicker than paper, I don't know how many pages would fit in one. Check eBay for springback binders.

I wonder if the Vario pages would actually stay in the binder. Paper has some texture, but Vario are slippery. Have you experimented with compression binders and plastic?

Springback binders are quite strong.

I concur with what philatelia pointed out. I wonder if the Vario pages might slip out, either if the album was dropped, or simply slowly slipping/tilting over time due to gravity and the heaviness of each page. I have a number of sizes of springback binders from different manufacturers. I will test them with Vario pages when I get home. For sure, the smaller "letter-size" binders that are more suitable for the Vario pages won't hold a lot -- ~25 pages? If you have a lot of Vario pages, expect to take up a lot of shelf space. Also, unlike ring/post binders, there will be a minimum number of pages you must have in the springback binder -- it needs enough to clamp tightly. I have always used ring binders -- takes up minimal space to maximize number of Vario pages.

My observation is that Vario pages are not nearly as flexible as paper. It work work closer to the 2 post stamp album (nothing is flat) but holes would not likely line up but you could try to repunch. Some of the high end albums actual score paper near the binding to give page more flexibilty. You can simulate by getting some huge binder clips. I looked at subway stamp and saw these accessories. There are some dealer display panels used at shows. It is more a codex style or how the old juke boxes paged music.

My observation is that Vario pages are not nearly as flexible as paper angore makes an excellent point that I didn't even consider last night when I first posted. Basically, Vario pages will not work well for display purposes using either spring-back or post binders, unless they are displayed at angle like the dealer display racks shown above -- they are heavy. To use spring-back or post binders, album page manufacturers sell their own stockpages that either: 1) are on paper, or 2) are hard stockpages that have a fabric/soft extension on one side that allows it to be flexible and all the pages to "bend" near the binding. They aren't cheap. The only other cases I've seen where people used Varios in non-ring binder albums, they were inserted in page protectors to provide flexibility near the binding. That will allow you to use post binders, but the page protectors are almost certainly too slippery for the springback binders. Given that, I elected not to go test my springback binders to see if simple Vario pages would stay in position. Best wishes on finding a solution... keep us updated!

I had another thought. Some coin collectors store their coins in 2x2s' (cardboard retainers) and use plastic pages similar to Vario pages (individual pockets for the 2x2). You may want to look at coin supplies. I have only seen them in binders but that was years ago. My dad was a part time coin dealer so spent time behind the table.

Thanks for all of the replies people! I didn't even know about a binding called "springback," thank you very much for this. Just to "get my foot in the door," I think i will get a few vario pages and place my stamps in there, just to see what I actually have, how much space they take up, and help to plan how I might like to ultimately display them.
In the end, i would like to custom print some white pages with things like the Stamp artist biography, inspiration etc, and then use clear mounts for the stamps, and then put it all in a post binder. But for now, Vario it is.

Just to show coincidences, after I posted the above information based upon Internet searches I get an email from Subway Stamp (first email in a long time) for albums and coin holders.
