Anyone want to help a damsel in distress? LoL Ok, what’s up with the Showgard 6” 902 stamp tongs? I’m trying to buy a few pairs and EVERYONE is out of stock. If anyone sees any at a brick and mortar store or at a stamp show, I’ll happily pay you to buy them for me - Any quantity up to a dozen. The reason I need extras is that if I drop them on my tile floor the tip can be damaged. I tried using my old spade tip tongs but they feel so clunky and are much less precise. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, zipper . I submitted an order to Subway and Potomac supplies - both showed them on their websites - but both told me they were out of stock. I also checked EBay, Amos, iHobb and Wizard and every online supplier I know with no joy.

Thanks for your post, Terri ( philatelia). I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble finding these tongs. Do you have a Hobby Lobby store anywhere near you? I bought my last couple of pairs of 902 tongs there. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone! Steve suggested Brooklyn Gallery and I placed an order. Now fingers crossed that they are in stock! Their price was much cheaper, too.
Hobby lobby is not too far - Jensen Beach - about a 30 minute drive. I keep forgetting that they carry stamp supplies! Anyways, next time I’m over there I’ll have to see what our local store stocks.

Just a comment that I find it intriguing that stamp tongs are out of stock. pits not like there is a high demand. The contrary I expect. No manufacturer is going to make a supply that might takes years to sell. A specialized market.

Teri I have a 901 if you strike out ( I think it's just shorter) I'll gladly send it to you!
I use the 904's (and I have a 909...pretty close)
you can never have too many!

There are likely hundreds or thousands sitting unused in old collections. Many probably get thrown away by heirs or anyone dealing with estates. One may think auction houses or dealers could have them sitting in boxes somewhere. Save our Tongs!

That’s an interesting thought, Angore! angore If I get unwanted tools and supplies when I buy a collection, I either donate them to the Veterans Stamps for the Wounded program or add it to the boxes of empty albums, stockbooks etc that I regularly submit to my local club auctions.

Thanks, Stan, but I just can’t seem to get the hang of using short tongs. I’ve used 6” for so long that my brain is hardwired for those. I have a 4” pair in my purse for philatelic emergencies (isn’t that hilarious? I really do!) and every time I’ve used them I fumbled like a newbie.

Well I finally found out WHY no one has any Showgard 902 tongs in stock. I called Brooklyn Gallery to ask about my order status and a very helpful fellow told me that the factory that did the metal plating for the stamp tongs was located in the Ukraine and - you guessed it - the factory was bombed and destroyed. Showgard is currently hunting for a new company here in the states that can do the plating. They are hoping to have some manufactured soon.
