Norway 5 øre green 1914 is a cheep stamp. Priced at the lowest rate in all catalogs. Here is an ordinary stamp. But if you have a good cancel (postmark) on it it could be another story! I sold this stamp on a Norwegian FB group with a start price tag at NOK 10,- (€1) Ending after two days the last bid was NOK 140,- (€14) All because in the Norwegian market SON stamps are what 'everybody' want. This was not even from a small post office, witch may had given even more. Nice

I agree that a cancel can make all the difference. Thanks for all the great images you post!
Here is an example of a stamp with a few minor issues that is greatly enhanced by the cancel:

As tobben63 states the Scandinavian collector will pay a nice premium for a SON upright cancel. I have found this particularly in Sweden.the Facit catalogue price for 1880-1930 is a guide FOR WELL CENTRED CANCELS only . Partial cancels are worth only a tiny fraction of a complete SON

Most of the French Colonies and Austria stamps I find with SON cancels are usually sold at much higher prices than the usual wavy line cancel.

Twenty years ago I would have favored a used stamp with no cancel (or very limited). Now I'll usually go for one with the most interesting cancel. By the way, I bought the cover used for my profile photo because it's the most interesting (and awesome) cancel in my collection.

I definitely pay more attention to cancels that I did when I first took up this hobby and look for interesting ones.

Here is a US civil war era stamp with a bulls-eye cancel pretty much dead center. I am not sure if this cancel adds to the value or not.

I collect GB squared circle postmarks. They can be quite expensive. This one was $60. I was prepared to bid much more. Sutton Linc May 7th, 1903 is the last recorded date. RF 475 Only four strikes are recorded for this rare office If you love GB Postmarks, here's a great site from member tallanent. Philatelic Postmarks
