An Open Invitation to ALL Who Might be Interested
This event has been rescheduled to Thursday, September 22nd at 6:00 PM EST, the British Empire Study Group will be presenting a Free Zoom program entitled: Everything you wanted to know About Stamp Catalogues… but were afraid to ask.
I’ll be co-hosting the program along with Joan Harmer (of Harmers International). Our presenters for the evening will be Hugh Jeffries, the Editor of the Stanley Gibbons Catalogues and Steven Zirinsky whom some of you might know from seeing him on other philatelic programs or perhaps as a Seller.
Registration and additional program information can be found using the following link: madmimi.com/s/36ba841
It would be wonderful to see some of you there. It will be a chance to meet the real-world Editor of a catalogue system many of us regularly use. An open discussion will follow the presentation. Rob

I have just registered, it looks to be a fascinating presentation. However, as I type this I have just heard the sad news that the Queen has passed away - I wonder then if the presentation won't perhaps be cancelled.

I haven't received anything official yet that the program has been cancelled. We are waiting to hear from Hugh Jeffries (@ Stanley Gibbons) in London before making a formal announcement. As of this moment, it's still scheduled to run. I'll make make an announcement as soon as I hear anything. Rob

Hmm... I received this email content. First took a screenshot, but my email addy was visible, so I cut and pasted this instead.
Your registration for BESG hosts Everything you wanted to know about Stamp Catalogues… but were afraid to ask with Hugh Jefferies and Steven Zirinsky at Sep 8, 2022 06:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) has been cancelled. You will not receive any further emails about this webinar.

Oh dear! I just figured out what must have happened. I was watching Sky News online and after much speculation they finally stated that the Queen had died.
Unable to think about anything else, I sent them an email canceling my registration. The email must have been about that.
My apologies if I caused anyone any trouble. I thought that they had cancelled the event. I'm really getting to be quite stupid lately.

No worries, zipper, we all click on the wrong button from time to time. The good news for you is that the event will take place again in 2 weeks, so I suggest that you try registering again to get back on the list. There were technical problems with the connections yesterday, so it is now being offered again on 22nd of September. Rob ( REL1948), I hope you don't mind, but I have updated the thread name to reflect this change. Is the old link still valid for registration, or will there be a new one? I got an email stating that my original registration is still valid, but since Zipper cancelled her registration, I wasn't sure if she could just use the old link or not.

I had planned to attend the webinar, but had some grandchild duties that took precedence. Can anyone who attended give us a brief overview of what was presented?

Hello kgvistamps, Fortunately, you didn't miss the presentation. We had technical difficulties connecting with Hugh Jeffries in London. The presentation has been re-scheduled for September 22. Anyone who had registered yesterday will automatically receive the re-invite. All wasn't lost; however, as we had an opportunity for an open discussion for the better part of an hour on a variety of catalogue topics. It was also a chance to see our moderator Chris (Beryllium Guy) in person.
I hope that anyone interested will come back and give the program another chance. It will be interesting, Hugh Jeffries and Steve Zirinsky are knowledgeable guys.

I dearly want to attend on September 22nd. Am really interested.
Cancelled yesterday because I was shocked and quite emotional. Felt as if I lost my grandmother again.

Despite the technical difficulties that saw the presentation cancelled and rescheduled, I very much enjoyed the open discussion that took place instead. It was a treat to see some of the forums regulars in person, although the only ones I could identify were Rob ( REL1948 ) and Chris ( Beryllium Guy ), I was also able to put faces to a number of people whom I have in the past, only communicated with via email. I am very much looking forward to the rescheduled presentation, Clive

Rob ( REL1948), just wanted to say thanks again for the invitation to this program, which was great. Hugh Jefferies is a great guy. I was impressed by his openness and willingness to consider making changes to the catalogues based on what collectors say they want rather than just going with what he thinks personally. I noted that Aaron ( kasvik) and Reid ( nbstamper) were also in attendance. Zip ( zipper), did you make it? Anyway, great job to you, Rob, and all of the organizers. I hope you will keep the thread going by announcing the future events when they are planned.

Yes, I was there. Really liked Hugh - he looks like someone I would have hung out with in the '60's. Hope his cough stops soon.

I very much enjoyed the presentation, both informative and entertaining. I will definitely endeavour to attend any other presentations by the BE Study Group. I recognised Rob ( REL1948) and Chris ( Beryllium Guy), but was unable to place any of the other forum members from their names. Clive
