What I collect: Places I've been, and places I want to go.

My wife and I had a quick trip to Massachusetts at the end of this week - Lynn to attend and present at a scientific conference, me just tagging along to see the sights (and collect the soapstone stove on the way home today). We were in Waltham, which was a hot spot for wooden canoes back in the day (my primary research interest). So amongst seeing the sights in Waltham, I learned that the Spellman Museum of Stamps and Postal History is one town over in Weston. So, I headed there yesterday afternoon and spent a couple hours touring it. Three other visitors were there at the same time, and the director of the museum spent time introducing the exhibits and chatting with us. Since I am a low key, bottom-feeding type of collector, I had nothing specific I wanted to see. However, there was a semi-permanent loan of airship philately, including a crash cover recovered from the airship Hindenburg that was captivating. I didn't visit the library, but I would expect that could be the greatest asset of the museum. Here are some photos:
