Hello. I started collecting stamps to earn a Boy Scout merit badge 58 years ago. I continued "collecting" (amassing/sorting/organizing) on and off again ever since. About 15 years ago I became a more serious collector. My particular areas of interest and focus are the stamps and postal history of Greece, the areas around Greece, and the world powers that were in various territorial claims and disputes with Greece during its first 130 years of independence. I have modest collections of US-classic period, Western European countries - classic period and smaller collections of Hawaii and Lost/Dead Countries/Territories. I am a member of the APS, the Hellenic Philotelic Society (Athens), and, living in Michigan, the Peninsular State Philatelic Society.
I am really looking forward to engaging with The Stamp Forum members and learning about the vast landscape of this great hobby.
Thanks

What I collect: Used only - Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Western Europe, and Scandinavia, from 1900 to date. That keeps me busy. To be honest I am trying to avoid becoming a WW collector.

Welcome to the Forum drgf1146 from Michigan, I received my stamp collecting merit badge in 1961, 61 years ago. It was a real turning point for me. I went from being a random accumulater to an informed young collector as a result. I look forward to seeing some of your Hellenic treasures. Rob in Utica, Michigan

Welcome to TSF, drgf1146! Like you and Rob ( REL1948), I also earned a Boy Scout merit badge in Stamp Collecting several decades ago. I hope that you will enjoy your time with us. -Chris US expatriate living in the UK for a couple more days....

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I was an avid collector from very young following my dads hobby. I too earned my Boy Scouts collecting badge due to my stamp collection. I still remember lugging my big old Ambassador world wide album to the local high school to have it adjudicated by the school principal. At one point in the past year I even posted on this site a photo from our small town newspaper showing me being presented my badge. Welcome to the Forum.
