Cayman Islands 10/ Green Paper Issues on MCA watermarked paper. The population of the Cayman Islands in 1911 was 5,564 according to "The Cayman Islands - Their Postal History Postage Stamps and Postmarks" by E.F. Aguilar and P.T. Saunders. There was not a great need for high value postage stamps except to pay for revenue purposes. So it stands to reason that not too many of the 10/ stamps were printed. Peter Fernbank, in his book "King George V Key Plates of the Imperium Postage and Revenue Design" indicates that there were three printings of the 10/ value from 1913 until 1918. Each of these issues was printed on Green Paper, but can easily be identified based on the color of the paper as seen from the back. These include the White Back (which Scott calls surface colored), Blue-Green Back, and Olive Back. All three printings are listed in the three major catalogs, just not in the order of printing.
The attached ID chart shows the front and back of the three issues as well as the various catalog numbers. Also included are the Requisition date and the quantity printed. All three are surprisingly scarce. These same paper colors were used for other British Colony stamps printed at the same time, so they can be used to help identify other 1/ and 10/ stamps that were printed on Green Paper watermarked Multiple Crown CA.
I would suspect that the White Back which was from the first printing is the one more commonly found because it would have been more likely to have been sold to collectors. Please double-click the image to see the stamps in more detail, and to save it to your PC if you want to use it for reference.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

kgvistamps Your post is coming in handy today for me Tom because I had a mint 10 shilling arrive today. It is the first one I have and it was sold as a Scott 44 but I was still uncertain if it may have been a Scott 47. I knew for certain it was not a Scott 44a because it was not green enough on the back. The scan does not pick it up well but the back of mine does have a greenish tone so I am going with Scott 44. Having a 1 shilling with a stark white back made this more conclusive for me. Here are scans of the actual stamp.
