Awful decision by Royal Mail which I know has angered the organizers of the Exhibition. The PTS were particularly miffed and understandably so. RM should feel ashamed. Will the apology be accepted by visitors? Possibly not. Londonbus1

"Industrial Action" is a nice way to say it.
To add, there was an "Industrial Reaction" ""

I think it was understandable up to a point with Royal Mail unable to man the stand properly. I decided that I wouldn't attend but changed my mind yesterday and booked a (free) ticket for today. When I arrived, there was a very long queue consisting of schoolchildren. It appears that there was some other event upstairs. This may have put off potential visitors but I went to the front of the queue and was, of course, allowed in, the queue had nothing to do with Stampex.
Various tables were laid out at the back of the mezzanine giving it more of an informal feel, nothing wrong with that. It was fairly busy when I arrived in the early afternoon but, as I say, some genuine Stampex visitors may have been put off by the misleading queue. I purchased some nice stamps and covers which I'll show later.

After a change of plan I found myself in St. Albans on Friday, so went on the short train journey to London to visit Stampex. Rather sad to see it confined to the main floor with many usual dealers missing and so few customers. Goodness knows what it would have been like on Saturday with the train strike. It has also been officially confirmed that Stampex will now be annual rather than bi-annual so the next one is in September 2023. I did however quickly spend my budget on some 1916 War Fund sheets and some gorgeous Barbados Britannia trade samples and thoroughly enjoyed Chris Harman's Chalon Head exhibit. My best buy however had to be this for my soon to be two granddaughter
