I have posted a US lot for sale on a Norwegian FB site. It will be listed until tomorrow night (Saturday evening Norwegian time) Listed for Nok 10,- (ca 1$) (bid increment are 0,5$) My question to you are: 1. Will it be sold? 2. If it will be sold, how much? There will be a a small giveaway to the winner, draw if more than one have the right answer. This is the lot

Certainly unusual to find a lot consisting of pairs and blocks. My guess is $7.50

In case your lot auction hasn't closed yet, I'll make a guess too - I think it will sell for NOK 80.

It went for the opening bid, Nok 10,- USA is not on the top 10 collecting areas in Norway I think.

Sorry to hear that, Torbjørn ( tobben63). It was a nice lot, and it should have brought more. The buyer got a real bargain, in my opinion.

tobben63, sorry about the auction result. On a sales site in my country, I guarantee that you would get at least $ 15-20 - but you have to be patient and wait to be known by buyers. A seller on the website posts every Tuesday of the week, 25 lots of stamps starting at $1 of the auction (maximum 10 stamps from the same period and country or pages with mixed stamps) and the auction ends on Sunday. 2 years ago when this type of periodic auction started, I bought many stamps at the starting price of $1, stamps worth even $ 50. Now that he has become known to buyers and has many followers, the auctions rise to 30-40% of the catalog value (and the stamps are not always perfect) and I only buy very rarely (there are also lots where the auction reaches 3-4 $ and there are German stamps that I miss). It is risky to post on a site a lot that is too large or valuable (starting the auction at $1) if you do not already have a number of followers or loyal buyers.

Thank you Beryllium Guy and gstamps. But no need to be sorry. This was just an experiment for me, to see what I could get for something that I had to get rid of. (I don't collect US) I posted here on TSF just as you could see that I was alive, litte activity here from me except for the postmark of the day. I have a new lot now with mass ware from Tanganyika and British East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika). These lots adds up and in the end they will pay for new stamps

It’s a tossup with specialty lots like these. If you list them on a site with a huge amount of similar material but more buyers, you may get more eyeballs but you risk getting buried in the crowd. If you list them in other places you may not have much competition but may not have any who collect these. With the number of precancels I would have bet on the bigger sites and put precancel multiples in the title. I’m not an expert, just my observations.
It would be very helpful for our members to get feedback before listing. It would be very useful and also interesting reading to have a new sub-board for lots that we plan to sell to get feedback as above. Comparing member’s advice with prices yielded would be really cool! AND our members would get first look and a chance at interesting lots. Does anyone else like that idea? Maybe we could call the board - “How should this member’s lot be listed for sale?” Or something like that.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have listed 1000’s of items on eBay so am quite comfortable about the process but do occasionally find myself struggling about how to proceed. I prefer listing low but sometimes there is the fear of something going way too low. Of course I have been on the winning side of this scenario too though. When I return to Toronto in 10 days I will face a dilemma of how to sell a Canada Jubilee 1.00 mint heavily hinged stamp. I have upgraded to a mint never hinged that has safely arrived while I am away. The hinged one still has a high catalogue value. I will post and share images in a more appropriate thread once I get home.
