In a previous life I collected US, primarily Washington-Franklins, and KG VI High Values of Bermuda, Leewards
and Nyasaland.
I am getting interested in Collecting First Flight Covers of Pan Am flights.
Is there any list of First Flight Pan Am Covers ? I found the American Air Mail Catalog and have a set on the way,
but would like to see what else might be available out there.
Thank you,
Richard S.

Richard ( w1ksz ), I'm not aware of any consolidated list of Pan Am's first flights. If you aren't already aware of it, I think the Pan Am Historical Foundation would be a good place to seek info, particularly from the various research collections (available here). One of my (too) many interests is Scott C20 and PanAm's trans-Pacific Clipper flights during 1935.

So far, I have found e-Bay to have a lot of covers. Including one that seems fake to me.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This thread has not been active since it was first started by a new member seeking information on PAN AM first flight covers. This one from Feb.2, 1981 commemorates the First PAN AM Direct Service between San Francisco and Tokyo and on to Shanghai & Beijing. If I am reading the cancel on the back correctly this was not a speedy trip. It looks like it arrived at Beijing on February 8, 1981 at 17:00 (5PM).

Back again after a week off-line, catching up. Saw philatelia 's 2920 stunner of the month.
While I was out of it, this arrived, from 1939. It started in Geneva, then flew on the return of the first PanAm FAM-18 flight, Marseilles-New York.
Postage is the normal Swiss one-way for this flight; 80 Swiss centimes--30 for air mail to France, the rest for trans-Atlantic airmail--with the normal commemorative cache stamped in Marseilles.
I was curious about the sender. Nothing come up. Cuneus is Latin, meaning wedge, the root word for coin, cuneiform and one rude English word. The address turns up. Then, as now, an apartment building, east side of the Rhone, near the Voltaire Museum. Somebody was running a coin and stamp business from their home? Advertising in the US for a first flight service? Stein, Hall & Co was a New York-based specialty chemicals company.
