I just got into stamp collecting recently, and have spent considerable time "window shopping" (basically gawking and drooling at) expensive and rare stamps on blogs and on ebay. I found it informative to learn about stories of certain stamps and why they are so expensive and/or rarities, even though they may not be that old. A chance ebay sort from "highest price first" yielded a bizarre find, an over $30,000 common stamp? What the heck? Upon closer inspection, the seller was selling it for that much because it had an arrow in the margins. More research indicated that these arrow margin stamps are indeed rarities, as about 1 out of 200 bear this mark, due to their manufacturing process. And as time goes on, and as stamp collections get damaged, stored in garages by beneficiaries, and outright thrown in the garbage, these stamps become even more rare. The good news is that you might have some in your stamp collection right now! Not I, so i went on the hunt...all stamp stores i can think of, ebay and hipstamp mostly, but i couldn't come across any. Once again, I'm late to the party (sigh). Post your margin arrow rarities here for others (me) to gawk and drool at, thanks. And of course offer you insights regarding whether this is just a "Bitcoin fad" that will wear-off soon, brining prices back down.

These enormous prices are largely “kite flying” by the seller and seldom reflect an actual final selling price.
This particular seller has a lot of classic US which sure look way over the top to me. His feedback track record shows that what he has actually sold generally has more modest final price.
Who in their right mind is going to fork out $30,000+ on a picture on eBay?. The stamp looks damaged to me anyway

Oh yes you are right about that...i completely forgot about asking price vs. selling price. A high asking doesn't mean that it necessarily sold for that much.
