You have some nice material on offer Grant. Perhaps you could post a couple more pics up here for posterity :-)

Hi everyone. I thought this might be of interest. I finally got my full sheet of Hausburg 2d Plate II framed after many years. It looks good and I think is on par with any reprint of abstract fine art. So if you can pick up a sheet reasonably cheap, its a reasonable piece of art. The fame is always somewhat expensive, particularly if you get UV protection, but thats the same with anything you get framed (I got mine on Amazon and its the perfect size. Let me know if you want the details).

Yes. Very nice Mark.
At some stage I too would like to get one of these sheets hanging on a wall around my office.
How much for a complete sheet these days? $500 ?

I got mine for around US$200 a few years ago. It has two horizontal creases where it was folded, but you can't see them unless you get very close. I did see another go for just over US$100 a few years back as well (I already had mine by then so I put in a low bid of around $100 just to see if I was lucky, but one other person bid higher), but these were both very good deals. Other than that I can't remember a full sheet for sale. 1/3 sheets are common and go for around NZ$600 at dealers.

Hi Dave and Mark Yes I think I brought mine for close to $500.00 as a complete sheet, roughly 12 years ago. Mark these may interest you. They are plate proofs taken of the 2d plate 11 on no watermark paper. I ma not sure whether these were printed in London and sent out with the new plate, or in fact printed in New Zealand. Do you know ? All I know it there are not too many copies around. The first is a block of 4 from Rows 19,20, No's 5,6 The first single is from Row 16, No 1 The next single is from Row 20, No 7. And although purchased 6 years apart, I believe belongs to the block of 4 above. The first pair are from Row 19, No's 8,9 The last pair are from Row 20, No's 10,11 I just love the bright colour. Lovely Grant, didn't realise you had a single that would match with the block. A census would be interesting and informative, maybe a challenge for you?

Nice Grant,
Odenweller states that plate proofs exist in deep blue, printed on thick unwatermarked paper, and are though to come from a single sheet sent out with the plate as noted in the cover letter for the invoice
Regards,
Mark

A recent acquisition and an example of why I love proofs and reprints. Perkins Bacon produced a number of trade sample plates in the 1930s from dies and transfer rollers that they still held. As far as I am aware only plate 30 and 30a contain an image of the New Zealand Chalon stamp. An internet image of plate 30a. Many of the plates were modified (hence 30a) to ensure prints weren't confused with original proofs, however this appears to be the same in both plate 30 and 30a.

Here is the top left two reprints of the "Jolliffe" sheet (on paper) I just picked up. Possibly unique for this plate position.

What is your opinion on whether these paper types are the same or different. The top is a known Jolliffe (from the full panels included in the book). The left is from the top half of plate II, so not a Joliffe from the book, but could be from a full Jolliffe sheet or another print, the right was considered a London proof of Plate II when the plates were created (I have not found the plate position, but it is probably from the middle of the plate, which I currently don't have access to). The paper thickness is very similar if not the same for all three (but it is also the same as the 1d plate proof, which I have a copy of and is easy to identify due to no wear) Thanks, Mark Here is hopefully a better scan of the Plate I proofs (top right) Plate II proofs (top left) Jolliffe from the bottom section included in the book (bottom right) and the "Jolliffe" from the top section not included in the book (bottom left).

Here is a comparison of Jolliffe's from two different books just to see if there is any variation in paper among sheets. And here is a comparison of another Jolliffe from the bottom (left) and with the same "Jolliffe" from the top (right)

Hi everyone, my presentation on the reprints at the RPSNZ back in May is up on their website ( link), but you probably have to be a member to view it.

Hello skid, I was easily able to connect and view the program. Wonderful job, I thoroughly enjoyed it. While I don't collect the Chalons, I follow all of the Chalon threads here on TSF with great interest. Thank you for all that you share. Rob

Some copies The green is probably the reproductions from Arnart advertised in the New Zealand Stamp Collector, Vol 059 No 01 Mar 1979 The blue might be the Philatelic Youth Council reprints that Andrew refers to on his website. www.andrewsnzstamps.com/proofs-reprints-and-souvenirs(note they are on different paper)

Hi Philip and others Here is the block of 4 and single together. Grant I cannot remember seeing these on here previously Grant :-( They are fantastic. If only 1 sheet of these plate2 plate proof examples were made, then with the ones you have shown us you have almost cornered the market!! :-) Lovely Dave

Yes. Very nice Mark. At some stage I too would like to get one of these sheets hanging on a wall around my office. How much for a complete sheet these days? $500 ? Dave Here is a complete sheet of the 2d plate2 Hausberg reprint - produced for a book in 1906 that never eventuated. Just received via Italy. Unfortunately it does have a 25mm tear to the base of the sheet. Still, not so many of these around now. To be framed and hung in the office. Another tick off the bucket list :-) Dave

Hey Mark Sorry I missed this post from you earlier in the month. Nice copy of the 2d sheet in green there. Are you going to have it framed and displayed or have you another plan for it?

Anyone seen any plate proofs of the 3d or 4d? There are supposedly some in the Royal Collection (I just got the gigantic book, but previously had scans of the page) and rumors of others.

Let's see some pictures of the 'gigantic book' Mark. Pictures are always good :-)
I only have a single copy of both the 2d & 1/- No 3d or 4d unfortunately.
