I checked my France C37s to see if I had a C37a hiding there. No luck. What I did find out though, was that the inking of the Violet Blue can vary quite a bit. Some copies had much stronger Violet Blue than other copies. I even had one copy where the violet blue was very weak and at first I thought I might have a C37a, but on closer look with a magnifier, I could see some of the violet blue "halo" around the plane. Maybe I'll post a copy of the strongest Violet Blue and weakest violet blue into my album to show the range of violet blue coloring....

And page 2: As you can see, I still have a ways to go on this page... I usually try to fill a space when I get the opportunity, but also keep my eye open for upgrading to a better example when I can, such as better centering and/or better (lighter or CDS) cancel.

Excellent Thread about that Airmail label. I checked and saw a recent e-bay listing for one for a little less than $3.00 Wish I had some extras. I always wondered about that label. Never knew what it was, but wanted it on my France Airs page anyway!

Not sure of a good area to post this but,
I may be able to get some of the posters and/or placards that they put up in the local post office. I haven't seen much about these kinds of items and they are not stamps, but I was just wondering if there is any interest in this sort of thing.
A few years ago I was able to get a placard relating to the comic book charactor stamps that came out then. I think I have a Spiderman placard. Just today I picked up the placard for the Inverted Jenny sheet.

As you all can see, I'm missing a few yet. Also have some of the perf varieties of the more modern issues, but still lacking some. I have always had a difficult time distinguishing between C37 and C37a. Any help there would be appreciated.

Nice covers! I also like the bi-plane cancels. I have considered starting a small side collection of Bi-plane cancels.

My plans are (in no particular order):
1. Mount my used USA stamps I have been accumulating for years 2007-2014. I have a 3 ring binder for years 2007-2010 and a 3 ring binder for years 2011-2014. I use a combination of free USA pages from Philosatelia and stampalbums.com, plus a few specialized or self-made pages. The pages are held in document protectors. I have a lot of the stamps mounted on these pages, but some are just loose and/or still on envelope corner. I would like to remove any stamps still on paper and mount them all using black background mounts. I'm missing some of the proper size mounts, so to accomplish this goal I'll need to get some more mounts.
2. Transfer my Great Britain trade stock from manila stock cards to vario pages so I can scan them to prep for trading.
3. I have a bunch of unsorted GB Machins that I need to catalog (by Adminware website criteria) and mate up with their proper glassine.
4. I have a bunch of USA duplicates that are in my albums that I need to remove from the albums and put in glassines in my dupes shoe boxes.
5. Post some pics of my stamps here.
6. Oh yeah, get an avatar.
That's it for starters....

Thanks Ryan,
Sort of like a "Cut Square" ? I wonder if this was pretty much the whole design or if it is only half?

Hi Everyone, Can anyone help me identify what this item is? I could not find it in my 2003 Scott Catalog. I dont collect Poland stamps (except the Airmails) so have been putting my extra Poland stamps on stock cards in Scott # order. I'm getting them ready for trading, etc. This item was the only thing I could not identify. Any help is appreciated. Dave N. Oldtriguy

Hi khj,
Thanks to your help, I have it figured out. Based on the straight edge list you provided I was able to determine which ones were 4782-4785. I also found that I had only one 4782a and one 4784a. Then I was able to compare the Short Wave UV for the 4782-4785 vs 4782a-4785a. What I found was that on the 4782-4785, the red and blue color of the flag is noticeably brighter under SW UV compared to the 4782a and 4784a. Then i was able to look at the ones I could not determine by straight edge (4782/a left & top and 4783/a right & top) and determine by SW UV that they were 4782s and 4783s.
Thanks again... oldtriguy <><
