Voting closes March 1 at 9:30 pm (an arbitrary time, but why not?).
I limited it to one choice per voter, but don't let that stop you from describing hybrid setups in the replies.

Colnect, only because I need access to my list from anywhere. If I'm at a show, I need to be able to bring it up on my phone.

I haven't decided yet.
I haven't looked at Colnect enough to understand it.
I've looked at EZStamp and I'm not sure I like it.
I haven't looked at the other programs.
I've thought about designing my own inventory program in MS Access, but I also like the idea of having my inventory at my disposal on my phone which kind of leads back to Colnect and my need to start understanding it....and rather quickly. Mike

I use an Access database I wrote myself.
Primarily for the assignment of the countries on albums and other containers but also as a stamp catalogue.
...
Maybe I'll program an "have it" and "missing list" as well.

Hi
I wrote my own inventory system back in the days when there wren't any. I only collect 3 countries so it is more than adequate. Advantage is that I can add "features" if need be.

Hi brookbam
If you have the knowledge, write your own. VB.NET is a pretty good language as well as C#. As for phone access that should not be too difficult.

StampManage.
It saved a lot of time entering data when one collects British Commonwealth although I did contribute additions to the program database,

EZStamp and its other programs + cloud Good for "newbies" in computer knowledge and good service from Softpro. 50,000 stamps inventoried yet. You have to read the big manual and MARIOS is always there to help !

I use the EZStamp suite mainly, although it takes a bit of getting around. But it is very powerful once you get familiar with it.

I bought Stamp Mates several years ago. Everything is entered in the Colnect database and is updated to the software stored on my computer. If my system crashes (or Colnect ceases to be) I'll always have an instant back up.

I guess it is kind of "old school" but back in the early 90's I put together an inventory in Excel. Many upgrades later, I still use it and find it adequate and stable.

I had bought the 1st version of EZStamp and it was not that good, so were the computers at the. Now, different story. I noot only like this main program but use the suites every day, to create pages while able to import #s into the page I am working on, even with images (if I choose so. The colour is automatically imported with the square and image an you can add Sc # or other (Maury for example) or both or other cats ... add stuff on page (Title etc) and save your work. Another suite lets me scan, even multiple stamps layed out on your glass with dark background, choose the dpi etc. and scan, then separate automatically each stamp, edgeskey and auto trim each stamp, save each one in your Pictures with name chosen etc. Also have EZPerf to measure perfs - this one I d not use often. It's an interesting question, Eddie ( eggdog), thanks for starting this thread. I have indicated "other" in the poll. At the moment, I am not using lists to keep track of what I have, but rather images. I am not really at the point that I would call this a system, but it's what I have gotten into the habit of doing. The truth is, I haven't been doing any real sort of inventory tracking for a very long time. So, I keep scans of my collection on my smartphone, and I take those with me when I go to a stamp show or to see a dealer, and I refer to them as I look through the dealer's offerings. Using an image has the added advantage that I can see the quality of a given stamp, too, so I can pretty readily judge if a stamp on offer would be an upgrade over what I already have, too. About 20 years ago, I did use MS Excel to list my collection, but I didn't keep up with it. I am a member of Colnect, but I struggle with using that site. If I were going to try to use an online site, I think that would be a good one. Maybe one day I will figure it out!

Hi uppercanadian
I did not have EXCEL (until Win 7) so my inventory is written in WORD VBA and VB.NET. EZStamp seems like a great tool. But, since I only collect 3 countries, for me EZStamp is overkill.

Hi René
I only looked at the inventory part and not very much of that. I know I am pretty much re-inventing the wheel. Other than the inventory, I can't think of anything I would need.

Great Poll question eggdog. I use Stanley Gibbons My Collection and vast array of hastily programmed and works in progress using Basic, Python and generally when I am teaching myself a new Language. Also, Excel, LibreOffice Calc and Base along with some more esoteric software that is Linux based.

Yes StampMates is a good program and has an updating feature so that as content is added/edited on Colnect your database can be updated with the latest information and new listings.

Maybe I will get around to using Colnect one day. I have a few stamps posted but I am not sure the work of data entry is worth the time Though I do have scans of some of my better stamps, such as this 10A.

Then again, I guess this is another reason why TSF is a better forum than SCF.

From my understanding the ban was related a spamming related incident = colnect or someone else. It is not uncommon for someone to constantly promote something on a forum that upsets the mods. It may have been appropriate at the time but seems much has changed.

The word "Colnect" is banned on the Stamp Community Forum. So is having a sense of humor or enjoying stamps, or that's my perception. It's too bad, because there are some incredibly knowledgeable people there and some very likeable ones, but the whole place seems kind of unhappy. ( Admin , please feel free to delete this comment if you find it too snarky or combative.) Who is unhappy ? I am not and Ebay, Hipstamp etc are used on a regular basis. Some members even do their own promotion and I do not find anything wrong here. I buy on Colnect but do not use it to inventory my stamps or as a catalog - some do René

It may have been appropriate at the time but seems much has changed. The ban happened several years ago, long before I became coordinator for Colnect or even joined SCF back around 2015! Not sure what happened exactly to cause the ban but it must have been a major faux-pas. I've considered reaching out to someone at SCF to try and end the ban since Colnect has evolved dramatically in the past several years but not sure who I would talk to and, in the end, there is enough overlap of members in other fora so not sure the effort is needed.

I found it hard to believe they would ban the discussion of such a useful tool, so I did a search on the site and sure enough there are very few hits. A few did sneak by when they referred to it as 'c o l n e c t'.
