Pete, I do not know you well (as a relatively new member of TSF), but I have read your many posts and always appreciate your accuracy and concision. In my pastoral ministry over the years I have journeyed with many facing their own mortality, and I wish for you and those closest to you the gift of peace in this time.

Hi Pete:
Sad to read your post, but few others would be able to write of their own demise. It took courage, I'm sure. I will miss your posts, you have been a stalwart of TSF.
We are all on the same path, just different locations. Perhaps, we may see one another sometime on the other side.
May God bless and keep you.

Pete, I hope you will be able to read all these wonderful tributes from the folk here at TSF. Then you will understand how much you will be missed. I have written to you privately but I just wanted to add that I agree with everything that has been said here. You were the best.
See you in the next world, my friend.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Hi Pete,
Wow. Cannot begin to express the sadness your post has caused.
While we've never spoken, I've followed your posts - regularly - with great admiration & enthusiasm. You've been a major reason to maintain my interest in both this forum & collecting in general! My everlasting thanks for all you've done!!
Please encourage your family to jump online here at TSF to ask any questions. We will treat them - and your stamps - with the utmost respect. I am thinking a permanent exhibit/museum display is the very least you deserve!?! Please feel free to share your wishes & desires here - as your precious remaining time permits - knowing that you've got a large following who will help carry out your wishes as you'd like to any extent possible...
Although I cannot imagine what you are going through, I hope that your remaining days are joyous & wonderful!
Best wishes & you'll be remembered!
Until we meet in the next world...

Dear Peter, This was not the news I was hoping to hear, I had instead been hoping to hear that you are in remission.
Opting for MAID is a very personal decision. I am sure that you have your reasons, but please, if at any point up in till the very last moment, don't feel obliged to go through with it if you have any doubt.
You will be missed, by me, and by the many other online friends that you have made in this or other forums. Clive

Pete, there was a moment shortly after I became a member here on TSF where I mentioned how close we are in terms of distance, with you being in Brighton, Ontario and me being in Grand Rapids, MI. I have had it in the back of my mind that if my wife and I were ever to travel east again, perhaps to New York City again or to see Niagara Falls, I would do the straight shot through Canada and perhaps visit you along the way. Alas, that is not now to be.
I am always reluctant to comment on deeply person matters like this on social media. I feel it is generally not my place and I am awkward about it. Your post, however, struck me deeply. As a 10 year old, I watched my step-father waste away from cancer, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. It was relentless until the end. I still have many vivid memories of that time and I am now 58 years old. It has informed me as to my own end-of-life decisions and how they will be made and by whom.
I feel like you have made a brave decision and that you have decided what is right for you and I feel I have an inkling as to why you made your decision. I wish you the best and I hope that you can look back and enjoy many past memories these final days.

I too didn't know you very well, Pete, but i have great admiration for your courage. Thank you for your contributions to the world of philately. As I have said elsewhere, it can be a lonely hobby at times, but, thanks to this forum, you can see how many of your fellow stamp collectors you have touched and will mourn your passing. Reid

Dear Pete,
That's a brave decision you made. I hope you are enjoying your final days.
Writing you postcards along my way across Japan and Taiwan has been an immense pleasure to me. May some of my travelling postcards reach you before the weekend and may you remember that someone has kept you in her thought all these days.

Hey Pete I saw this thread heading a couple of days ago and thought it may be a humorous one - and have only just read it - bugger!! I also had to look up 'Pi' day too, I hadn't heard of it before, and its bloody next Tuesday mate. Ssshhheeeez I admire your courage and echo vikingeck's sentiment in that it is nice that you have the final say in your life. We'll miss you, and love you too, and you will remain in our hearts, until we too, meet our maker. All the best Pete. You're the best Dave Note for others like me: Pi Day Founded in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw, March 14 was selected as Pi Day because the numerical date (3.14) represents the first three digits of pi. It also happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday.

It is so sad to hear your news, Pete. I enjoyed your posts and read them regularly. Had it not been for your post on the Boston 2026 World Expo label sheet, I would have missed out. May you find peace and comfort in the coming days and beyond.

There should be a remindme-thread in the menu. This post should be placed there. As a reminder of special human and as moral idol for all those who have bad days.
Pete, a honor for me to have met you in this forum.
