Nothing like writing your own...
After a single blood transfusion which did nothing, I have opted for MAID (medical assistance in dying). Feeling the way I am, PI Day will be last my day on Earth. Palliative is soon approaching.
I'll sorely miss TSF, like I'll miss most everything else.
Take care everyone - live long and proper! I don't think I''ll be back, but I might.
So everyone, celebrate with your favourite pie for me - mine is apple

Pete, Truly sorry to hear this. You have been a major and unique contributor to this forum since I joined a couple of years ago and you have always been supportive. You have been much missed. Yet, how typical and amazing that you are making this announcement yourself. We can celebrate you now and later. Mine is also apple. For Pete, Daniel

Courage my friend. I do so understand , having discovered the letter my late wife wrote to our lawyer two weeks before the end ……..I was in denial, convinced there would be a cure.. she knew the reality and made preparations.
I don’t know when , or if , medical assistance in dying will be legal in the UK but when the body says “enough” an element of choice ought to be our final right .

Pete
This is indeed sad news, but there is bit of sensibility in your being able to make the decision. No one knows better than you. It may be hard for those of us left behind to accept but I salute you, your courage, and honesty. I will have more than a few moments of silence on Pi Day and you will not be forgotten.
Peace Stan

My dear Peter.... it is so unspeakably unfair what is happening to you.
All I can say is that it has been a privilege for me to have known you during our time together on the Forum, and I am a better person for that experience. I will always be grateful to you for that. You have been very generous to all of us with your time and your stamps, but above all, you have been a wonderful, supportive friend, which is treasured above all else. We will never forget you.
Peace to you, my friend.

Dear Pete,
These are sad news indeed, although you had told us of your deteriorating health situation, so not surprising. You will be sorely missed. I have enjoyed your posts and our conversations, as well as your philatelic expertise and stories about the Canadian North. I feel we are so losing so many TSF friends these days.
MAID is currently a hotly debated topic in France, and not yet as accessible as in Canada. I respect your decision and wish I will be able to do the same when my time comes. My favorite pie is pecan, but these are hard to find around here.
May we meet again in philatelic heaven,
Your friend,
Xavier.
