Pete,
I am so proud to have known you on this forum, and am glad to call you a friend. I support your brave decision, having known others who were able to keep their dignity by making this hard decision. We will miss you, but can take solace in re-reading your gifts to the forum, and remembering your wit, knowledge and friendship.
Take care my friend, and may the next journey be a safe one!

I''m not sure what I have typed as my brain is a bit of a muddle. It is frustrating what I have or have not written in here.

Dear Pete. I've been out of the forum for a long long time, and visited today only to see this sad sad thread. I really enjoyed our small chats, reading your posts on the forum, and very gratefull for the stamps you generously sent me. I followed your journey, here and there for the last couple of years, and I am really sorry it is coming to an end. I don't know if you will read my message, but God bless you, and I hope your journey will continue to a better place, without suffering. I will remember you. Thank you.

As usual I missed the boat. Pi Day was last Tuesday, and I was caught up in my own blender of life. Sorry to have missed you Pete, I hope your journey was painless and the destination as good as a large piece of apple pie. You inspire.

I'm just seeing Pete's obituary; I guess a little part of me hoped that maybe this wouldn't be the end for him, somehow. But I know that he chose that date, and I respect his choice. May he rest in peace and live on in our memories.

I had coconut creme pie the day after.
He seemed ok with it....I think it's the thought that counts.

This is very sad news. I have not been a member of TSF for very long, and I only discovered it because of Pete. I was surfing the net one day when I came upon a set of free album pages. I have a near complete MNH collection of East Germany that I wanted to mount, and I really liked the pages that were being offered. Unlike Steiner, these pages had descriptions for each stamp, and I also liked the fact that the Semi-Postals were integrated in with the general issues. Of course, it turned out the were designed by Peter Ware. The only hitch was that the pages started in 1968. So I wondered if the designer perhaps had earlier pages that simply had not been uploaded. I started to web search and found Peter here at TSF. I reached out to him soon after joining and told him how much I liked his pages. He said that when he had some time, he would look into completing the entire country. I did not know then that he was already ill.
I started to mount the GDR collection a few weeks ago, using Steiner pages. Today, I hit 1968 and decided that I would use Peter's pages for the rest of the period from 1968 to 1991. A small token to remember him by.
He was a talented person and very friendly. I did not know him long, but certainly liked what I did know of him. I am grateful that we live in a country where we have access to "Medical Assistance in Dying" (MAID). He went out the way he wanted to. Eff cancer! RIP Pete!
