I picked this up at an "Antique Flea Market" a couple of weekends ago. I'd love to know more about it - I just thought it looked interesting. Should be able to click for larger versions, but let me know if you have any issues with that.

Very nice Zuzu, I'll purloin the image for my database. Very busy, not sure of the "K" The Card best pigeonholed under US : Auxilliary markings : Deficiency in address (not seen often) The Egyptian Circular mark to the left of that is a common "passed by censor" mark Not sure if the card arrived at the destination.

The first thing I noticed was the alternate spelling for Luxor on the cancellation - "Lucsor". The French spelling according to Wikipedia is Louxor, so it's not a matter of them using French for the non-Arabic script.

You have a sharp eye, Ryan, I missed that. Scrambled to my Egyptian Postmarks collection, there are a few, mine are mainly in coloured ink, from the "Lucsor / Winter Palace" I note Cairo is also spelled Caire

Ryan Turns out, we BOTH got it wrong, The script on the cancelling hammer either has worn, or is made poorly, the correct name which should be read in each case is LUQSOR Here is a more readable strike from another in my collection (I thought those "C's" looked dodgy)

One of the only items I didn't dispose of when I stopped collecting Egypt.
Sakkara, the oldest Pyramid ? With a lovely wax seal. I remember travelling by camel from Cheops to Sakkara in my younger days. Maybe that's why I didn't get rid !!!
